Cost-Effective Solutions
Company Overview
This venture is now a one-man, part-time enterprise. As an unlicensed electrician, I am committed to adhering to Code and ensuring quality work from the outset. Money has been a barrier to my licensing, yet I maintain a good rapport with local electrical inspectors. I can assist you in acquiring any necessary permits.
I accept smaller jobs that larger companies often overlook. Numerous small jobs don’t even need permits. I can manage significant projects, including converting outdated knob-and-tube wiring to contemporary wiring, upgrading typical service from 100 amps to 200 amps, or adding subpanels and new circuits. I have undertaken the complete rewiring of three homes. Contact me to talk about your electrical challenges; I offer Cost-Effective Solutions.
Founded in 1983, Cost-Effective Solutions started as an IT consulting business specializing in IBM large mainframe systems. It thrived until late 2001, when the recession hit. After 19 years of steady work, contracts suddenly vanished. After six months without employment, I decided to leverage my other skills developed over 30+ years as a homeowner.
I initially worked as a handyman but soon gravitated toward electrical tasks, which I find fulfilling and am skilled at. I learned about electrical codes mainly from books I bought and insights from experienced construction professionals, including my best friend, a general contractor, and a local building inspector.
We have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau at Cost-Effective Solutions. We have just moved from Belmont to Petaluma. Please give me a call.
Originally from San Francisco, I was educated in San Mateo. I studied at CSM, CCSF, and Oregon State University, focusing on Physics and Math, then relocated to South San Francisco, later to the City, Belmont in 1986, and ultimately Petaluma in 2018.
Before joining IBM in 1969, I owned a stereo component store and a small recording studio in San Francisco. During my younger days, I managed rock bands, created nightclub sound systems, and engaged in live sound engineering while also working full-time and pursuing other nighttime endeavors.
In 1985, I exited the music business to concentrate on Cost-Effective Solutions and IT consulting. I moved my home and business to Belmont in late 1986. I enjoy a happy marriage and have three adult children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
