Currently, this is a solo, part-time operation. I am an unlicensed electrician dedicated to following Code and getting the job done right the first time. Money has been a barrier to my licensing, yet I maintain a good rapport with local electrical inspectors. I can help you obtain any required permits.

I am willing to tackle small jobs that larger companies tend to ignore. Numerous small jobs don’t even need permits. I am capable of taking on larger jobs, like replacing old knob-and-tube wiring with modern wiring, upgrading standard service from 100 amps to 200 amps, or installing new circuits and subpanels. Cost-Effective Solutions was established in 1983 as an IT consulting firm, focusing on IBM mainframe operating systems. It was quite successful until the recession began in late 2001. Contracts dried up after 19 years of abundant work. After six months without employment, I decided to leverage my other skills developed over 30+ years as a homeowner.

I began my journey as a handyman but soon discovered my enthusiasm for electrical work, where I thrive. I studied electrical codes, primarily through books I purchased and advice from seasoned professionals in construction, including my best friend, a general contractor, and a local building inspector.

Cost-Effective Solutions holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We have just moved from Belmont to Petaluma. Feel free to call me.

I am a San Francisco native, educated in San Mateo. I attended CSM, CCSF, and Oregon State University, majoring in Physics and Math, before moving to South San Francisco, then to the City, Belmont in 1986, and finally Petaluma in 2018.

Before starting my career at IBM in 1969, I owned a stereo component store and a small recording studio in San Francisco. During my younger days, I managed rock bands, created nightclub sound systems, and engaged in live sound engineering while also working full-time and pursuing other nighttime endeavors.

I left the music industry in 1985 to focus on Cost-Effective Solutions and IT consulting. I transitioned my home and business to Belmont in late 1986. I enjoy a happy marriage and have three adult children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
