In 1938, Community Electric Cooperative was born from the commitment of the Holland Ruritan Club alongside community leaders to supply electrical power in the rural areas of Southeastern Virginia. Paul L. Everett, a distinguished attorney from Suffolk and a Holland Ruritan, was instrumental in forming the electric utility that today caters to over 9,500 homes and businesses.
