I had a couple outlets that stopped working over the weekend. I called Fidelity National Home Warranty first thing Monday morning and they sent the request to City First Electric. They were able to dispatch an electrician that afternoon. I received a call 30 minutes before he arrived and he was on time. He and the phone staff were professional but warm, if that makes sense. The electrician was knowledgeable and efficient. I highly recommend.

I am a disabled lady who lives alone. I live in a 50 yo condo & have American Home Shiield home warranty coverage including electrical. AHS sent City First to me because of a ceiling fan issue.

The lights work. The remote works. The fan stopped working.

Luciano was very pleasant but didn't stay long. The fan is not hardwired in. It has a long cord.

He pulled the chain. Used the remote. Looked at the cord. Took some photos.

He did NOT take the fan down or attempt to diagnose the issue in ANY way. He stated fan not working, lights are so not a remote issue. Fan must be replaced & hard wired into ceiling. Had to discuss with AHS. I would love to have it hardwired but couldn't afford it as I'm on SSDI.

I just spoke with AHS. They denied the claim based on the service tech's report which stated items missing, exposed wiring. Unable to resolve.

A second opinion is coming.

This seems a scam on the part of City First.

First, he was here 15 minutes. He did not in any way attempt to diagnose the problem, only looked at it externally, didn't even remove the housing & check to see if any wiring was loose, etc.

Fan is as purchased complete with cord. Only addition was the remote (worked fine for years as have my 7 others throughout my home). I don't understand how he can say items are ""missing"". The cord is unmodified, don't understand how he can say wires are exposed.

They got my $100 for service call & didn't want to do the work contract covers. Repair or, if unable to repair, replace item.
Because his report said it is missing parts (if it is missing parts why do the lights work??) AHS is not replacing. My only way to challenge or appeal is to have a 2nd opinion. Different electrical contractor.

Instead, apparently they'd do the work if I had them install hardwiriing & replace the fan, significantly more costly to me, I'm sure.

This seems like a scan to me!!

I was very impressed with their response to completion time. I sent a text in the morning to request a quote. Received a phone call by 11 am, and scheduled an appointment between 12-3pm. Technician arrived and completed all work within under an hour. Everything went extremely smoothly and efficient. Would definitely use again in the future.
