What a day in the neighborhood. I was looking to have an EV charging unit installed in my garage.

I decided to hire Barrett from B&M Electrical Services because he was the most affordable.

I'm recently widowed and need to save Pennies when I can.

That saying goes ""you get what you paid for"", and this is what happened to me.

Santa Clarita requires that all licensed contractors need to pull a permit to install EV charging unit. Barrett did not pull a permit.

Barrett came out to do an assessment and he looked at my panel and made no mention that it was old. He took the job, he placed the unit, took my cash and when we noticed we did not have power, he took no action to help me. He bailed on me.

I'm trying to get receipt from him.

There are ethical electricians whom came to my rescue.

Barrett: before you decide to put a charging unit in someone's home, please school yourself what the city requirements are.

My mom needed a unit installed to charge her Tesla. Someone came out, only wanted cash, and then LEFT US WITH NO ELECTRICITY.
While he was installing, some of the power went out in our house. I figured it was him turning off the electricity so he could work. Once he was finished, he was leaving and I asked, ""when will the power come back on?"" This is when he stated he never turned the power off and he never touched any of that stuff. Unfortunately I had to leave to take my son to school so I couldn't help my mom deal with him. He left our house stating he did nothing wrong and that was it. Well one of our brakers is now scorched. We have to get another electrician to come in and fix the whole panel.
Now I understand if things happen, he didn't mean to do something, an error was made or whatever, but these people are doubling down saying they had nothing to do with our electricity and breaker.
This must be one epic coincidence cuz wow.
We tried to get them to come out and look at it again to see if they can do anything but they don't want to come out and the owners wife even called me a nasty name after I tried to get her to listen to me.
We're not looking for any kind of come up, we just want our electricity fixed.
These peoples customer service is horrendous. I implore you to find a different electrician.
This is one thing you want to spend money on and not be cheap.
Did I mention he would only take cash? Shady.
Just responding to your comment-yeah maybe this could've happened with or without you but the way you and your wife have handled this is terrible. The reputable electrician who just came out here said that you didn't even do basic electrical work. And now you want to respond to me on a Yelp review?? After we've been calling and texting you and you not responding there?? Get out of here with this BS. Don't do it yall, DO NOT HIRE HIM. SHADIER THAN A TREE.
An awesome electrician was just out here and he was great, he fixed it thankfully. He answered our questions and was very thorough.
Not like this guy who claimed to not have done anything wrong and then peaced out. Leaving me and my family with no electricity.

Barrett is the man! One day I noticed my power was wont working in the house so I called and spoke with Barrett on the phone as I found him on yelp. The man had good ratings so I decided to give him a try. He came by and as soon as he opened the panel it literally blew up and almost injured the man. I felt sooo bad but luckily he wasn't hurt. If he hadn't come that day who knows my house would have burned down. Long story short, the cause was due to my main panel only being 125amps and not providing enough power so it over exhausted. Barrett gave me a good quote to replace the panel to a 200amp but of course I wanted to avoid spending anything out of pocket. Barrett was patient and generous enough to help me call and explain the situation to my home warranty company and home insurance. Unfortunately, this was not covered. I was left with no choice but to pay myself. Barrett was very comforting and went out of his way to drive 45 min to be able to find the new panel parts and returned the next day and got my panel installed. Barrett and his wife are excellent team. Barrett is very knowledgeable and patient and went out of his way to help me as he was very understanding of the situation. His plaster/drywall paint contact Antonio and his partner were awesome. They were able to get the wall back to normal after the wall had to be cut up around the old panel. After everything was done it was like nothing ever happened. They clean up afterwards too which is a plus. I recommend Barrett and Antonio.
