I called Beck Electric for a few electrical issues and they were all resolved today. Martin Beck diagnosed and replaced a failed GFCI outlet in my garage, and also picked up and replaced a kitchen under cabinet light.

He called 10 mins out (per my request), and worked quickly, efficiently, and with expertise.

Along with the good rating here on Yelp, what also informed my decision to go with Beck Electric was Martin's sincere responses to various reviews, both good and bad. Martin's a solid guy, straight shooter, friendly, and a total pro.

Highest recommendation, will definitely call him again if/when I need further electrical work done.

I called about 5 different electricians to get quotes and Beck was one of the lowest of the rates. Was questionable at first because setting up my appointment seemed difficult to communicate but I was able to schedule someone within a few days, they even moved their schedule around to accommodate me. They sent out Miguel who is absolutely fabulous! He removed two ceiling fans and replaced with another ceiling fan and a crystal chandelier. He was very friendly and not only did his job but helped explain a lot of things to me- like not to touch certain bulbs, recommended better bulbs for my other lights and touched on other recommendations around my house. The cost of the installation was exactly what I was quoted and it only took a few hours. I was very happy with the job and would recommend them!

I am editing my review of this business. I am going from 1 star to 2 stars and going to condense my feedback.

1) communication confusion over what their technicians said versus what my tenants said. my tenants told me they never told Beck Technician, John he had to leave the first visit but owner, Martin told me that his technician told him they did...this is important because the time, travel, and visits are all part of what you are charged for. the 2nd visit was unconfirmed and cause confusion amongst everyone with a ""dropby"" and we were going to be charged 2nd travel fees prior to me calling to share my concern over being charged for a visit that wasn't confirmed. Troubleshooting should be 1 visit.

2) In the end, after two visits and two long phone conversations with the owner, the job was completed, so we are pleased it was finally fixed, however the technician, Kevin, called us 20 minutes before the scheduled appt at 8am that he'd be there at 9am, but showed up at 10am. we understand some traffic, but we didn't get updates on it; and my tenants had to reschedule their plans due to the inconvenience. My tenant is a Marine officer and had made special arrangements to be there to ensure no more miscommunication occurred.

3) Pricing it not unreasonable, but it was a headache getting quotes, and agreeing to proposed solutions. When I asked for a quote; the owner said he would get it to me right away, which wasn't right away. I am not unreasonable, but give me a realistic timeframe and I'll wait. The owner left me voice messages and spoke to me several times explaining his personal life and personal circumstances which I found to be very unprofessional. As a customer it made me feel uncomfortable. We all have jobs, families, pets, etc. but I just don't need to know all these details; i just need to know what to expect in terms of time, price, and services. I felt as though I was being bullied and guilt tripped the entire time working together. I actually wish I had read some of the previous reviews which mimic what I am saying; but my husband chose them due to cheaper initial fees.

All in all, if you have a simple job it is possible to get a decent service, but anything unique; I would probably pay for another company that might be more expensive but far less headache.

Beck electric did wonderful work. Jose is a rockstar and does excellent work when it comes to panel upgrade, rewiring, and grounding. My parents also liked his professionalism and demeanor... Jose is very personable and I am thankful for the work he completed. Kevin and Martin definitely helped make the estimate reasonable. Despite some miscommunication, lack of timely communication and clarity/direction, my overall experience with Beck was good. I will definitely recommend Jose to do any electrical work you have in your home.

We used Beck to have a ceiling fan installed and were very happy. Miguel was awesome. He was very friendly and helpful. He is very knowledgeable. he was in and out in no time and we love our fan. thanks Miguel

Miguel removed ceiling fan and relocated a chandelier. Did an awesome job. But more importantly, very professional and respectful. Very considerate of my home. Didnt leave a speck of dust. Thx Miguel! Will use them again.

Shorted out a circuit and couldn't correct it at the breaker panel, and also needed a flickering garage light fixed. Kevin was great at communication, calling me to let me know his ETA, and then again when he was delayed by rush hour traffic. He was able to fix both problems quickly and even offered to clean up when some dust and dried paint came off of the outlet he had to open up. He also pointed out that one of fluorescent bulbs was close to burning out and would need to be replaced soon. He lived up to the excellent Yelps that made me choose Beck, and I will plan on using them for any and all future electrical issues in my house. Thanks!

John at Beck Electric did a great job adding and rewiring our office expansion. We added 16 phone and data lines and they came in the same day I called and started the next day! Kevin was great at making sure the job got done right. I highly recommend them for data and phones lines.

This review is long overdue.

When I moved into my home several years ago I had Beck replace the panel and do a few other odd electrical jobs around the house. The job was well done and reasonably priced.

A year later, after getting central AC installed by another group, we were having trouble dealing with some of the city inspectors for the electrical portion of the AC work (which was done by someone else). I had called Martin Beck just to see if he had any advice, and he went above and beyond, contacting and meeting with the inspectors multiple times on my behalf until the situation was eventually resolved. He had no obligation to do so, but he handled the situation for us. I am extremely grateful for his help.

I'll be using Beck for any future electrical work I have in San Diego without hesitation.

Beck Electric was the only company that I called out of 4 or 5 that was wiling to come and look at my intercom system. Turns out that they were able to find an easy fix. Martin the owner was very responsive and knowledgable, and John did a great job at my home. As a bonus, Martin called several weeks later to follow up on service and make sure all was ok. I will definitely use them again.
