We have had Alternate Energy install both our PV system and most recently split air conditioning units. Prior to the contract signing and even 2-3 years after installation, our calls have always been returned promptly.

Their prices are fair. They do not ""over-sell"". The main part of our house, which is a large area, specced out at three split units, but the salesman suggested trying two and then adding a third if necessary. The two work very well, and we do not need a third unit.

Their estimators and workmen are professional, friendly, efficient, protect property during installation, and clean up completely. Plus, the PV and A/C systems work great.

We are completely satisfied with this company. I recommend Alternate Energy without any reservation.

I see the commercial on television about this company, and all I have to say is that they don't know how to return calls. I called them repeatedly and left a message only to be disappointed as I never got any of my phone calls returned.

I'm actually happy they showed their true colors up front so I didn't have to endure any more poor service from this company.

Think twice about doing business with this company!!!!!! The solar water system profusely spits out water. We call them, they give us instructions over the phone, we follow and we do the work on our own. Another guy comes out and gives us an estimate on the damage...... We get a surprise bill from this company . . . never once they told us they were going to charge us 150.00 for what was called Emergency Troubleshoot. You would think this is ALL covered under your warranty . . .WRONG. It isn't true. but true that Ron W. . . once they get paid their service ends!!!!

If i could give Alternate Energy, owner Bruce Ekimura and sale rep Rene Julian a fat no star, i would. We signed all the docs but we live in a highly saturated area. So waiting was part of our expectations but we wanted to relocate our meter and Rene said no worries, they will have their engineering group handle the permit. We waited and waited and had to constantly follow follow up with Rene and the engineer. When HECo announced they were changing the tax credits and doing away with the net metering, we contacted Rene and he ASSURED us that we got our application into HECO so ""no worries"". Again, no further contact from Rene, HECO changes the program, no more net metering. Then ONE MONTH after HECo made the changes, Rene emails us (no class, no nerve to pick up the phone can talk to us) and says oh, sorry, we didn't get your application into HECo before they changed the program so what do we want to do? WHAT?? Not only did he lie to us, he didn't care and just tried to say he doesn't know what happened, it was out of his hands. WHAT?? Who gets the commission, who else have we been talking to?! To top it off, we emailed the owner, Bruce Ekimura, with our frustrations and complaint and nothing. I called and left 2 messages for him to call, and nothing. So if the top management/owner doesn't give a S__T, why do you expect any of this staff to care! We have friends and family who used other companies and have had no problems and have solar. Lesson is to shop around and read reviews!! And DO NOT USE Alternate energy!!

I recently had a system installed. It seemed that once they were paid, their service ended. I waited months with no contact from them and no power production. It was only after several angry calls were made that they returned to my house and installed the necessary inverter and then sent me links to register my system. They were quick to offer excuses pointing at HECO for prolonging the process.

It took 12 months because of HOA. Some of you understand. Miles was patient, and we finally have it installed! Jordan, August and the rest of the installation team (sorry can't remember the other two guys names) were professional, efficient, and friendly. Miles also make a visit and hung out with us for 20 minutes to make sure everything was to our expectations. Competitive pricing, quality salesperson, and quality installation. Recommend to anyone looking to cool there home without breaking the bank or affecting the look of your home! Thanks again!

Alternate Energy has been exactly what prior reviews has stated. Efficient with installation and maintains contact during the process. Our primary thing occurred with HECO which involved their paperwork processing. Overall, this has been pleasant.

Jeff Lee assisted us with getting SHW system and 4 split AC systems. It was a pleasure working with Jeff. New home construction is not easy and never goes as planned. With so many contractors working at the same time, it is not unusual to have a lot of unexpected problems. Even if I was upset over these problems, Jeff kept cool and came through on Alternate Energy's end on coming up with solutions. Jeff is very professional, true to his word, and treats customers the way they should be treated.

AEI came several times during our construction to rough-in prior to dry wall and later when almost everything was finished. We encountered several problems ranging from running electrical through the house electrician's holes, dry wall covering all AC wire/piping from the rough-ins, switching AC power to the main distribution box, and pricing. AEI worked through all these problems to our satisfaction.

Although we encountered problems along the way, Jeff and AEI corrected everything we asked of them. I am very impressed and would recommend them to everyone. Thank you Jeff and AEI!

lose money! called to get a quote for PV installation. talked to someone and they took my info and said someone would call back. already approved by HECO. no one called back. terrible. going with another company.

received msg from Mike (mgr @alt energy). turns out my voicemail inbox was messed up and his people couldn't contact me. giving them 5 for following up (based on customer service). sorry for the inconvenience.
