The inside fan on my A/C stopped working last weekend. Since the unit is still under warranty (parts) I called Airco to come out and diagnose the problem (they installed the unit originally). I called on Saturday at 10 PM and they had a repair expert out by 10 AM the next morning. It turned out that the fan motor had broken.

Alan Highley, the service technician, said that they don't carry these motors on the truck and that it had to be ordered. Since I was busy on Monday morning Alan agreed to come out on Monday afternoon to install the new motor. He was waiting for me when I returned to the house.

I was very pleased with the fast service from Alan and Airco. The system is now running perfectly just in time for the increasing temperatures. I would highly recommend Airco and Alan Highley. Alan was professional, took care of the issue in the fastest time possible and the labor cost was quite reasonable.

I've used Airco for the last 8 years since I bought a warranty through them. Almost every time they did a PM, something had to be ""fixed"", but I was ok with it since thw warranty covered it. 4 years ago my coil was replaced and this year it has to be replaced again but the warranty only covers one repair of any kind. If you are pricing out places, refridgerant refill will cost you at least $320. A coil replacement will run you around $1100. Don't ask for an itemized statement because it's a ""flat"" charge.

Had Airco come out as part of the Austin Energy AC check-up program. Up to that point, our AC unit had been running perfectly fine. Within 48-hours our AC unit stopped working. Airco came out, charged a service fee and replaced the capacitor. Within 30 days, our AC unit stopped working again. Airco came out to inspect, came up with an expensive service suggestion which we turned down. After posting a negative review, a very nice service manager, Wes, contacted me, we discussed the situation. Bottom-line, the service fee and difficulties were an unusual set of circumstances for how Airco normally operates. He offered to refund the fee. Process snags do happen, and we greatly appreciate Wes reaching out to us and making good on the situation rather than ignoring it. Our experience with Wes was 5-star, our experience as a whole was 3-star. They do have good BBB ratings, and might be worth considering for future service.

Ron W was great! We had a pest guy in our attic that had accidentally knocked off the swtich to the A/C upstairs which tripped off the LED on the thermostat and the A/C then no longer was working. Ron came out immediately, and since this was a simple fix, he showed me how the A/C and thermostat worked in case this ever happened again. He also showed me where the condensation should drain as well as the emergency drip pipes. While I was upset that I hadn't checked the switches in the attic and wouldn't have needed to call Airco, I now have a thorough understanding of how the A/C, thermostat and the drainage works for my AC.
Thanks Ron!! Great service!! Would definitely use them again.

We just had a very positive experience with Airco. We've been using them for many years - they've replaced several AC/heating units, done repair work etc. , all with generally good results. However, we'd been having some increased problems with the drain line not draining properly from the air handler they replaced 5 years ago. The drain line would back up, causing the auto shut-off switch to trigger and shut off the A/C. We'd blow out the slimy build-up in the pipe ourselves, and it'd work for a while, but kept happening, and finally it over-flowed into our ceiling. We just couldn't figure out why this kept happening, and upon closer evaluation, we started thinking the drain line and the auto shut-off switch line were reversed. So finally, we called the manager at Airco, explained our concern, and he sent Chip Barnett, the Operations Manager, to check it out. Chip took one look and said yes, it was in fact installed wrong, and that Airco would take care of it. They were out right away, fixed the problem, repainted the damaged ceiling, added additional auto cut-off switches, Chip was there to inspect the work, and they even refunded me the $275 I'd recently paid for them to blow out the lines. While certainly it would have been better had it been done correctly in the 1st place, we understand that mistakes do happen. Even though they had done the installation 5 years ago, they took full responsibility for the error and made it right with no problem! Naturally, this is the way I expected it to be handled, but you and I know full well that many other companies would not have handled it so well. To be honest, when this problem persisted, my husband and I considered trying another company, but after this kind of exceptional service, we're sticking with Airco.

I am a business owner in the service industry. To me service means I serve the people I work for and go above and beyond to make sure they are taken care of. My experience with Airco is that really don't care about me or my house they only care about money. My heating and cooling system has given me problems ever since they came and did a yearly check on them. I have lived in this house for 7 years and never had any of these problems. I asked them to come and take a look to see if maybe they left something undone and they will not come out with out charging a $90 fee.

DO NOT RELY ON AIRCO MECHANICAL. We bought two brand new Carrier Heat Pump Units two years ago. First of all, the downstairs unit was not properly installed and kept tripping out. After three service calls they finally figured out that the wiring was not installed correctly. Next, the upstairs unit quit cooling. One of AirCo's servicemen told us that everything was working properly and that we needed more insulation in our attic. A day later they came back out because our upstairs was still 100 degrees and not cooling. They determined that the drain line was clogged. A month ago that same unit's blower went out which was $400 in labor to repair. Now the downstairs unit is no longer cooling. Call someone else to repair or replace your AC!

I've used Airco for 15 years and have been satisfied until the last 6 months. I now find them unreliable and not helpful. The receptionist is inflexible and overly abrupt, if not rude. They only have 5 technicians so they are all overworked and always run late for appointments. The last straw occurred a month ago when they came to my house and had to order special parts. When I did not hear from them after a couple of weeks, I called them to check the status of the order. The receptionist said ""WE will call YOU when we get it, sir"". So I waited. After a month, I called again, only to find the parts had been in for a ""couple of weeks"". I'm done with Airco Mechanical.

It really pains me to write this because I used to have a very high opinion of Airco Mechanical. The salesman gave me the best quote, so I bought a Lennox system for downstairs in 2010. Installers were great. When I needed a new upstairs system last year, I called the same salesman, but now he was selling Carrier equipment. Explanation was a bit sketchy but no big deal. Once again, a seamless install. I was a happy customer, so this year I decided to sign up for their annual maintenance program. On the first visit, the tech determined that the Lennox unit was not cooling properly and already had a leaky evaporator coil. The part was covered by Lennox 10 year warranty but not the excessive labor charge to replace!

I called the service department who agreed to retroactively put me on better service plan, which I thought was really nice of them. But when I got the paperwork, I was still being charged over a thousand dollars for one year of service. Gee thanks. I contacted the salesman who said he would talk to the service manager and try to get me some relief. After a week with no response, I sent a reminder. The service manager eventually sent an email thanking me for being a customer and then proceeded to refer me to Lennox. A good company would have covered the labor. A decent one would have split it with me. What type of company makes a profit from servicing their faulty new equipment?

Summary: Salesman and techs were great. My Lennox equipment failed prematurely, so perhaps that's why they switched to Carrier (check online for similar stories about defective Lennox evaporator coils). Most important to you as a prospective customer, AirCo Mechanical did not stand behind the product they sold to me.

Another hot summer, and another reminder of Airco's complete incompetence. After the past two summers and over $1500 dollars, yet another leak has popped up where Airco ripped apart the air handler and failed to properly seal it after multiple attempts. Not to mention the $3000 estimate that I received from Airco to repair the mistakes that they caused from previous attempts to repair the system. This was also a five year old system when we first called them out. It ended up being out of warranty last summer when they popped the $3k estimate on us. Another hot day with a locked up AC, but I have complete confidence now that I have a new AC service.
