We called Air Tech On Friday, 9/21/18 because our primary a/c unit was not providing any cold air. Our friends had had experience with them and recommended them. Phone answering service said a tech would be here at 2 PM. Serviceman Alex came in at 2:45 PM same day. First thing he asked for was $129 to diagnose problem. I said OK and he immediately went up into attic where both a/c units are located. He came down in about five minutes and showed me pictures he claimed to have taken both of a severely frozen cooling coil unit and of the two manufacturer's labels showing install dates. Alex claimed that our primary a/c was frozen solid, and that we should replace that system due to its age of 18 years. I asked him for a quote to replace the cooling coil, and he said $3,000. He had already quoted a price of $200 per pound of R22 and told me that R22 had been obsoleted by the federal government - something I already knew. I told him I would think about it, wrote him a check for the $129 diagnostic fee and sent him away. I then shut off the system to give the cooling coils a chance for the ice to melt and left it off for 18 hours until the next day, Saturday, 9/22/2018. That morning I went up into the attic and found that Alex could not possibly have taken the pictures he showed me as the primary unit was sealed with tape and insulation and there was no evidence of any water in the drip pan, while the unit was at full air temperature - about 85 degrees F. Further, there was no evidence of manufacturers labels on any side of either unit. Due to apparent dishonest practices we will never use Air Tech again and will warn others away from them.

The technician came to our home for an annual spring tune-up. We were not experiencing any problems with cooling, but we like to keep up with the maintenance. Upon completion, the technician (Ethan) suggested that a capacitor needing replacing and he recommended a UV light for mold in the system as well as a surge protector. He showed me a picture that he took that showed the growth that he was referring to regarding the UV light. I agreed to the capacitor but told him we would pass on the UV light and surge protector. He replaced the capacitor, collected payment and left. I then sent the picture that he shared with me to an A/C guy that I know, as I wanted to know more about the UV light. I didn't use this guy for the service because he's a one-man company which means he can be difficult to schedule for routine maintenance because he gives priority to emergencies (understandable). He replied with ""They're not needed it's just the sales technique. The capacitor starts the unit and if it was running before you probably didn't need one. In the attached picture everything looks clean though."" I then reached out to JJ Phillips, the Office Manager at Air Tech. I let her know that I had a second verbal opinion and didn't appreciate the sales pitch. Furthermore, I advised that I looked up the capacitor that was installed, based on the model number on the invoice, and learned that it's a lower voltage unit than the one replaced. While it will still function, it will not last as long as the proper size is expected to last. I asked that they come out and replace the capacitor with the right size (at no cost) or give me a refund for the lesser one that they installed. Ultimately, their choice was to refund what I paid for the capacitor...with a caveat. I needed to provide them a photo of the lesser quality capacitor so they could have it on file for their CPA. If I was comfortable being my own A/C technician, I wouldn't have scheduled them in the first place. I told her I did not feel comfortable disassembling the unit. She said she would see if there were other options. Eventually, I grew tired of the process and opted to dispute the charge with the credit card company, Bank of America (BofA). After providing all the information requested, BofA then requested a formal letter from an A/C service stating that the capacitor was undersized. This would have cost me $100-120, on a dispute valued at $189. As you can imagine, this didn't even make sense to pursue any further with BofA and they ultimately denied my dispute. I advised JJ of the outcome and let her know that I would be writing a review about my experience. That was 29 days ago and I never heard a word back from her. In summary, I will never use Air Tech of Houston again because of their sales tactics and the way they worked to avoid refunding my money or making my situation right in an 81-day period since service was rendered.

My ac was running fine. All I did was annual maintenance with them. It broke after a few hours they touch my ac. I fixed with another company with less cost $81.28 because they came up with way expensive estimate $600 & they broke my AC intentionally to get more money from me. They recommend me to fix on totally wrong parts. Stay away from them. This is not a makeup story.

My AC was already nice & cold before I did annual maintenance with them. It hasn't been done in like 3 years and I didn't want major break down in the future so I decided to do with them since they have the high rating reviews here. Jason from the company did annual maintenance & it all went well. A few hours after Jason did servicing, AC broke. I called them to send to check AC. Adam from the company arrived in the evening & told me AC need Motor replacement to fix it with a high cost at $600 and told me it happened for unexplainable reason. I was told that it just broke down with no reason. It's just so weird to me that AC broke on the same day their tech did servicing. I haven't touch my AC for so long & suddenly broke after their tech touch the AC. It was all good until their guy came over. I can say for sure that it broke down because of Jason. I suspect that they might want to rip me off by making my AC break down intentionally when they touch the AC. I contact them again for this but there wasn't no reply from them. I repair with another company called Air Depot & got it fix with just $81.28. I am not letting these guys touch my AC for another remaining of the annual maintenance since it consists of two visits. This is the true story. I started to wonder if they pay angies list to get the reviews. This is the true story. I have no intention of giving bad reputation to others but if I get one I will response according to the service I received.

We had Air Tech come when our AC stopped working in January. The guy who came looked fairly young and after looking around in the attic for awhile, suggested a bunch of replacements and repairs totaling just under $900. I almost went with them, but at my fiancees urging got a second opinion from Heights AC and Heating.

They came over and fixed my AC in about 20 minutes for $100. When I mentioned the price difference, he commented that Air Tech tends to have less experienced technicians who follow a ""throw everything at the wall and see what sticks"" method.

I'd urge them to get more experienced technicians who will at least look into cheaper options. Four months later we still haven't had any problems with our AC after Heights AC came.
This review comes a little late but I just got an automated e-mail from Air Tech and it reminded me of the poor experience.

SCAM!!!!This Company is a scam! We called a technician out to do yearly routine maintenance check. Our AC had no issues just for preventive maintenance. Technician comes in turns down AC to 70. The house begins to get cold. Wife and I both are sitting on couch she grabs blanket. I leave to walk the dog. Get back AC is still at 70, but it's not cooling anymore. Technician tells us compressor is blown, unit is not operable. Gives us $10,000K quote to replace the AC and the furnace! Have a second company out mind you AC is now not working. Technician reviews says nothings wrong with AC, they added to much freon to freeze our compressor. The furnace is 10 years old and has 20 year warranty. Also they didn't do any maintenance while here. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Wife called the supervisor Billy to explain story he wouldn't logically listen to fact we schedule this appointment 2 weeks ago we hadn't had AC issues and this is what happens. His response was let me see how we can adjust the quote. Get the F out here. BBB is next along with any other site I can post on.

Why does all the other companies I have called for estimates have to share a same common interest as my broken AC? Seriously, when your AC and the companies you talk to out there are both full of hot air, you know something is wrong... I have taken the time to research what it takes to replace a unit, and what it should cost on average. Like you, reading this review, you are looking for the best people for the little money you have. AC repair or replacement is never inexpensive. I will save you the trouble as I already called two of the hospitals in Houston and they are not paying as much for an arm or leg as they use to. I thought about having a few friends help me in even doing the replacement myself. Yes, I thought YouTube was my friend. However, I found out 90% of all manufactures will not warranty the work if it is not installed by a licensed and certified dealer. The whole reason I looked to replacing the system was our system was not balanced for our home, and so it was creating too much moister and causing mold around our vents. I was suffering with allergies in my home, and it was casing me issues sleeping. After reading many reviews from Yelp and other websites, I made one last attempt to reach out to a company that seems to be very fair and honest. Everything I read about them says that their prices are not the cheapest, but the quality of work they deliver is well worth every single cent. After all the quotes from over seven other dealers and installers, they all quoted me between 12k to 18k. So here I go, I gave them a call and had one of their air experts come out to the house and tell me what needs to be changed to correct the issue. They gave me about three different options and I was at the point of just pulling the trigger and getting their best system. I only did this is because they had a good relationship with a finance company and I was able to make the monthly payments. I opted to have the total system replaced... from ducts, duct work, and total system. (I was surprised to find their flagship system was still in that price range above) They were able to come out the next day and get started first thing in the morning. They started at 9am, and were done by 6pm. They laid down tarps all over the walking paths in my home, and they all had on dark blue booties or shoe covers on their feet. Everyone of them was very nice and professional. The design of the air ducts was fantastic. All the ducts were hung as high as they could, and all air paths were wide open and balanced. The first 30 seconds of it being on I instantly noticed a difference of how clean and even the air was. The system was very easy to use, and I was even able to control it on my mobile phone. God, I sound like sales ad. Anyways, Air Tech of Houston is first class all the way. You can SO tell they have been in business for a very long time, and 100% knows what they are doing. If you are one of those people that just want to avoid all the crap, and get it fixed or replaced a fair price with better than fantastic customer service, then you may just need to go with Air Tech. I have business cards from about 18 different HVAC people I have used over the years, and I am now down to one. I must thank all the guys that did a fantastic job on my system. Thank you to Nicholds R., Osear R., Fernando F., Jose P., Marvin G., Geovanny F., and Billy for all their TLC and fantastic work. The people in my home and I are grateful for your hard work. I hope this review is helpful to you, and maybe even to Air Tech of Houston. Take care!

Do not allow these people into your home, they are highly unethical as well as incompetent. After being promised a refund for bad work, I was given a runaround for weeks. Speaking with Billy he finally said that I would only get a refund after signing a document he was to provide that stated I would take my review of them down off of Yelp. When I said I would likely get my lawyer to review his document all sense of civility vanished. The refund was off the table and he was only too happy to suggest I ""Have a good day""

Stay away from Air Tech of Houston, they do not stand behind either their work or their words.

I was a long term customer for many years when this company was owned by an older gentleman that knew the meaning of customer service and honest work. After he passed away a younger generation
family member took over the business. The new owner Bill Wagner, only cares about the bottom line. I called them because my A/C was not working, a tech came out and fixed it temporarily until he can send someone else to do the job. I asked if what he did will be ok until the other tech comes out. He said yes! well less than 24 hours I had a major leak in the attic and had to get Servpro to dry all the mess AirTech caused. I called them and someone did come out and fixed it correctly but I was out $700 extra due to their incompetence and not knowing how to fix the problem from the first time. Forget about trying to talk to anyone in charge of that office either, management is not available most of the time!
I will never use them again since this new younger generation took over. Also, attitude is horrible when talking to them.
