My air handler was extremely noisy and not blowing cold air so I called the same people (Air America (AA)) who installed the unit five years ago and one month. After evaluation I was given option one change the motor and have some other changes done ($1,000.00) and option two replace the entire unit ($1,750.00). I was told by the AA technician I could not use the unit until the work was done. I had asked for the ac technician's honest opinion if he were me what option would he choose as either of my options were any good considering I just purchased a new unit five years ago. The tech replied he would opt to get another AC unit. With his recommendation I decided to get another unit. That same day a friend of mine took a look at the handler and mind you he is no expert with air conditioners. Anyway, he was able to remove the loose blower wheel. So, the unit that could not be used was working fine with one wheel. I called AA and spoke to Scott and told him what occurred, and he admitted to being embarrassed of the misguided assessment and advice I had been given. I appreciated the honesty and gave them another chance as removing the blower wheel was only a band aid, one I felt should have been done the first time. Scott said he would send another advanced technician for assessment. The second tech after evaluation also advised me of the same option, getting a new unit would be best. I posed the same question to him. Under my situation what option would you choose if you were me, he stated the same thing, get another AC unit. I felt like he was honest so I went ahead and agreed to get the unit replaced. My friend advised me to wait again as he wanted to try and replace the broken blower wheel with a new one. I was able to order the part via the internet as all of the AC specs are posted on the unit. After spending $50-$60 plus shipping on a blower wheel he was able to insert it and the problem was solved. My AC works better than ever. Even when you look someone in the eye and ask for their honest opinion they will flat out lie to you. I'm sad that honesty is not an abundant commodity. I do not recommend Air America.

While shoping in the local Home Depot my wife and I scheduled an appointment with the Air America representative who had set up a table in the store. He assured us that the company could clean our ducts an told us there was a $69.95 service fee. The appointment was scheduled for a Monday between 10 am and noon. The service truck arrived at our home at 8 am. After looking at our system, the technician phoned me and said that the motor on our system was bad and needed to be replaced but he wouldn't put money into the system because of its' age and instead recommended replacing our airconditioning systems alltogether. I asked him to leave an estimate with my wife. He said that they do not clean ducts and that he needed to charge two service fees because there were two airconditioning systems. I told him not to bother with the esitmates and to leave my home. We hadn't had service to the system, from what he said he only looked at it and wanted to charge thousands of dollars to replace it. I phoned Home Depot and complained to the manager who was more than cordial telling me that they would not charge a service fee at all.

no shows on service calls. bad customer service. Once you bought it you own it. Your time is theirs to waste.

I'll tell you all the truth, I have not contacted Air America because I found another AC company that just blew me away. Cotto Air Conditioning was amazing. They took care of everything, explained the why's and how's to making the unit more efficient. I am very happy with them and at this time talking to Air America would be a waste of both of our times. It's a shame though, I really liked them until this guy tried to rake me though the coals. Got my mom over to Cotto too. If this is read by Air America, I hope you take it for what it is. One employee can hurt a company, especially in South Florida air conditioning where for some reason a lot of predatory companies give the industry a bad name. You did the right thing by contacting me and I did not contact you back, for that I apologize. However, I will talk to Cotto about the UV Light System. If they come back with a $1,000.00 unit your guy Mike tried pushed on me instead of the $200 to $300 unit I was told to get. I will update this review again and tell the truth.

Had them come out to give my A/C a tune up. The tech showed up within the scheduled time. He broke a piece off my unit and fixed it. He didn't try to charge me. The next day my A/C was blowing hot. Called the office and someone came out that day to fix it. He replaced a part and didn't charge me. It's working great now and appreciate the professionalism and not trying to charge me for something they broke. I'll be using these guys from now on!

We recently had a new a/c unit installed and are very happy with the service received from Air America. They were very professional from young lady that took my first call and set the appointment as well as the installation. Reggie and Llloyd were knowledgeable, helpful, curteous and professional. The unit works great and at the best price we found among all companies we contacted.

Buyer BEWARE!!! This outfit is in the A/C REPLACEMENT business, not the A/C repair business. After checking the pressure in my A/C system and giving a VERY cursory look at the handler, their rep. proclaimed that my entire A/C unit was shot and required replacing to the tune of upwards of $2,500 (they failed to even notice or mention that part of the split A/C system was still under the manufacturer's original warranty). The rep. added that he could charge the refrigerant in the existing A/C unit for $50/lb. (would require around 6lbs.), but would give no guarantee that it would fix the problem, as there likely was a leak in the system. I ate the $60 for their ""sales call"" and bid him farewell. From the following day, they then proceeded to pester me with hard-sell, guerrilla marketing phone calls to ask if I would recommend them to other people, if I had made a decision regarding my A/C replacement (because they ""wanted my business""), etc.
Needless to say, I tried a different person and am so glad I did! He correctly diagnosed the problem (the same which I had suspected all along), and only charged $20/lb. to charge the system. One hour later and I had ice cold A/C again for a fraction of what Air America had quoted!
