Mike Short, a native of South and Central Texas, completed his education at Halletsville High School in 1968. After relocating to Austin that same year, he quickly joined IBEW's Electrical Apprentice program, finishing it in 1974 when he became a licensed Journeyman Electrician. He gained invaluable experience under the guidance of several respected contractors in the Austin area before obtaining his Master Electrician license. In 1976, he wed Debi Mayfield, and together they became partners in running the business when he founded AC Electric in 1984.
