Anna received her journeyman electrical license back in 1978. She became one of the early female licensed electricians in Dallas, TX. Anna spent close to ten years at The City of Dallas, where she trained in motor and refrigeration systems, safety lighting, hazardous location wiring, and general wiring. Anna played a key role in designing, building, and maintaining electrical systems for libraries, fire stations, police stations, and parks.
She exited The City the day prior to the birth of her first son (she has two grown sons) and chose to pause her career for her children. As her children were growing up, Anna handled small projects while her mother looked after them. As more opportunities arose, Anna had built a small business by the time her boys began preschool.
