Mike Short, a native of South and Central Texas, completed his education at Halletsville High School in 1968. Upon moving to Austin that year, he enrolled in IBEW's Electrical Apprentice program, completing it in 1974 and earning his Journeyman Electrician license. Before earning his Master Electrician license, he gained critical experience under the mentorship of respected contractors in the Austin region. After marrying Debi Mayfield in 1976, they joined forces in managing the business when he established AC Electric in 1984.
