In April 1981, fifty percent of the common stock, excluding Steve Humphrey's shares, was acquired by the Humphrey & Associates Inc. Stock Ownership Plan and Trust. Consequently, our employees, called Associates, possess 50 percent of the company's shares. Once employees reach one year of service, they begin to earn shares, thus becoming part-owners of Humphrey & Associates. In 1981, the company took a notable step by gifting half the stock to employees via an employee stock ownership plan, genuinely reflecting the term ""associates"".

At first, H&A specialized in electrical contracting and design projects in the Metroplex; in 1986, we broadened our reach by opening a branch office in Mt. Pleasant. In 1995, we added a mechanical group, providing customers with a complete MEP team package; later in the '90s, we opened a principal office in Fort Worth and another branch in Denton. With each new service, both past and future, our goal is to enhance our customer service.

H&A is a family-owned business, yet it operates on a larger scale. The management team regards the core 310 ""associates"" as our most valuable resource. Following 3.5 years of service in the Army, he went back to electrical work while being part of the Army Reserve. In 2016, he earned his journeyman’s license and is now pursuing his master’s license. Skyler handles the day-to-day operations, material procurement, quality management, and our internet visibility.
