In April 1981, the Humphrey & Associates Inc. Stock Ownership Plan and Trust acquired fifty percent of the common stock not held by Steve Humphrey. This means that our employees, referred to as Associates, own 50 percent of the company. Once employees reach one year of service, they begin to earn shares, thus becoming part-owners of Humphrey & Associates. In 1981, the corporation made a significant move by gifting half the stock to employees through an employee stock ownership plan, truly embodying the term ""associates"".
Initially, H&A focused solely on electrical contracting and design projects within the Metroplex; in 1986, we expanded by opening a branch office in Mt. Pleasant. In 1995, we expanded our offerings by adding a mechanical group, delivering a full MEP team package; later in the '90s, we opened a main office in Fort Worth and an additional branch in Denton. With each new service, both past and future, our goal is to enhance our customer service.
H&A is a family-owned business, yet it operates on a larger scale. Our management team considers the core group of 310 ""associates"" to be our greatest asset. The board of directors and a managing executive committee, consisting of seven vice presidents and branch managers, have an average tenure of 25 years together, which is quite rare in the construction industry. While his previous company was not busy, they continued to pay him regularly. Yet, he craved more stimulation in his career. That’s when A.H. Electric was created.
Skyler's electrical career started when he was only 12. He continued in this field until he was 21, at which point he joined the military. He spent 3.5 years on active duty in the Army before returning to electrical work while also serving in the Army Reserve. Skyler obtained his journeyman’s license in 2016 and is currently working towards his master’s license. Skyler handles the day-to-day operations, material procurement, quality management, and our internet visibility.
