The story of Johnson Electric started in the early 1950s under the leadership of J.B. Johnson. For a long time, he and his son Cliff managed the business, creating a recognizable fleet of distinctive green work trucks. In the fall of 2018, Cliff enjoyed a well-deserved retirement from his day-to-day duties at Johnson Electric. Soon after, his son, Isaac Johnson, left, to focus on his new family and a career as a microbrewer.

As of January 2021, Cliff Johnson's daughter, Amy Robbins (Johnson), along with her husband, Matt Robbins, a dedicated employee of Johnson Electric, took over their roles in the operation of Johnson Electric, bringing the next generation while upholding the same core family values and principles established since day one in 1952.
