While in high school, I attended classes on residential wiring and general automotive repair. I was awarded first place in the Residential Wiring and General Automotive Knowledge contest for Florida in 1992, organized by the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA). In 1997, I served as a judge for the electrical and automotive contests at VICA. I maintained an ASE Master Technician Certification in automotive for six years and earned Yamaha Outboard Engines certifications for engines up to 250HP.

I subsequently worked for seven years at BG Products Inc. (BG), a petroleum additives firm, where I quickly ranked as the seventh highest producer among 1,100 salespeople nationwide. At BG, I received training in all petroleum products.
