Being the son of Calvin, a mason, I remember working with him since I was a child. He eventually became a general contractor, constructing many houses. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. When he built homes, I was there to lend a hand; I think I drilled my first electrical hole at age 7. Truthfully, I came to dislike construction as I aged and wanted to explore different avenues. While attending college, I took a job with an electrical contractor that was supposed to last only three days. Things went well, and I completed the work in a day and a half. He told me I could keep working if I remained productive. I realized I loved the work and had a talent for electrical wiring. Eager to marry, I left school and committed to working full-time as an electrician. Now, over 20 years later, I own my own business, have been happily married for 24 years, and have six children. I am grateful for all my blessings.
