I have spent my career gaining knowledge and experience right here in San Luis Obispo as the owner. My journey started with an associate's degree in Electrical Technology from Cuesta College. This education provided me with the core principles of electricity and important business skills. Following college, I earned my journeyman's certification and worked across diverse electrical environments, from residential to commercial and industrial. With a solid educational foundation and a decade of experience in the electrical field, I am excited to introduce 5 Star Electric!

William obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. Edward received his degree in Industrial Technology from Cal Poly. In 1989, Bill and Ed took over the business from their parents. Since 1981, we have included Electrical Engineering in our services, witnessing consistent growth. Our workforce typically ranges from 60 to 70 employees, peaking at 150 during a five-story hospital project in Santa Maria for Marian Hospital in 2011. Our company includes divisions for Electrical Engineering, Major Electrical Construction, Small Electrical Construction, and Electrical Services. “Important projects come in various sizes”. Thoma Electric can manage nearly any project from inception to completion, covering design and construction. We also specialize in Data/Comm work, including copper and fiber installations, solar systems, and emergency standby power solutions. I completed my BS in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1983. I was employed at National Semiconductor from 1984 to 1986, serving as a Manufacturing Engineer in wafer fabrication. In late 1986, I came back to SLO to work at Thoma Electric as an Estimator and Project Manager. My responsibilities have expanded to include Company Safety Director and Manager of the Service Plus division, focusing on small to medium electrical projects. We also provide troubleshooting services for electrical issues and handle small time and material jobs for homes and businesses. We provide emergency electrical services after hours for urgent needs.
