My journey started in 1973 as a painter with my uncle in Vista, CA, during my high school years. Upon graduation, I relocated to Utah, where I pursued construction studies in college and worked in the tile sector and a cabinet manufacturing firm. Eventually, I ventured out on my own as a painter, then progressed to renovating my own projects and selling them. By chance, my sister wanted to build a home in Carmichael, CA, which brought me back to Sacramento. After completing her home, I reestablished my firm, and now, 27 years later, I’m still here.

I am Ken Abreu, born in 1955, and I have felt connected to construction throughout my life. I lost track of how many wooden shacks I constructed as a kid; any stray board found its way into my projects, both above and below ground. During high school, I signed up for a home construction class with a friend, excited to begin our careers in the building industry. After a family member passed away, I moved to San Diego, CA, and I never looked back. I graduated from high school in Vista and took a job painting for my uncle. Eventually, my parents relocated to Crescent City, CA, and I moved there for another remodeling job. I spent a few years back in Utah, working in ceramic tile, cabinetry, and framing. After that, I relocated to Sacramento, CA, to construct a house for my sister in Carmichael. Once her home was done, I founded Abreu Enterprises, beginning with painting and later branching into tile setting and drywall. And now, 27 years later, I’m still active in the renovation business.
