I began my career as a painter alongside my uncle in Vista, CA, back in 1973 while still in high school. Upon graduation, I relocated to Utah, where I pursued construction studies in college and worked in the tile sector and a cabinet manufacturing firm. Eventually, I ventured out on my own as a painter, then progressed to renovating my own projects and selling them. As fate would have it, my sister decided to build a house in Carmichael, CA, prompting my return to Sacramento. After I completed her house, I launched my firm again, and here I am, 27 years later, still going strong.

My name is Ken Abreu, born in 1955, and I feel like construction has been my lifelong passion. I can’t count how many wooden structures I built as a child; any loose board became part of my projects, whether above or below ground. In high school, a friend and I enrolled in a home construction class, eager to start our journey in the building trade. After a family member passed away, I moved to San Diego, CA, and I never looked back. I finished high school in Vista and worked with my uncle as a painter. Eventually, my parents relocated to Crescent City, CA, and I moved there for another remodeling job. I returned to Utah for a few years, working in ceramic tile, cabinetry, and framing. After that, I relocated to Sacramento, CA, to construct a house for my sister in Carmichael. Once her home was complete, I decided to start Abreu Enterprises, initially focusing on painting, then expanding to tile setting and drywall. Today, 27 years later, I remain here, still dedicated to renovation.
