As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. He eventually became a general contractor, constructing many houses. I helped him by carrying bricks, blocks, and cement, doing whatever tasks he required. When he built homes, I was there to lend a hand; I think I drilled my first electrical hole at age 7. Honestly, as I grew older, I developed a dislike for construction and sought other opportunities. During my college years, I took a temporary job with an electrical contractor that was meant to last just three days. I performed well and finished the job in just a day and a half. He told me I could keep working if I remained productive. I discovered a passion for the work and a talent for electrical wiring. Since I wanted to marry soon, I left school and worked full-time as an electrician. More than 20 years later, I run my own business, have enjoyed 24 years of marriage, and have six children.
