We didn't realize it at the time, but this change was well-timed, as the construction industry would soon experience a major decline. Starting over in a new region of California was challenging, but we are grateful to be here. Being the son of Calvin, a mason, I remember working with him since I was a child. He later transitioned to a general contractor, building numerous homes. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. I helped him with home construction, and I think I drilled my first electrical hole at the age of 7. To be honest, I grew to dislike construction as I got older and wanted to pursue other paths. While attending college, I took a job with an electrical contractor that was supposed to last only three days. I did well and wrapped up the work in a day and a half. He offered me continued work if I stayed busy. I found that I truly enjoyed the work and had a knack for electrical wiring. Wanting to get married quickly, I dropped out of school and worked full-time as an electrician. Fast forward 20+ years, I now own my own business, have been happily married for 24 years, and have six kids. I feel blessed.
