As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. He eventually became a general contractor, constructing many houses. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. When he built homes, I was there to lend a hand; I think I drilled my first electrical hole at age 7. Truthfully, I came to dislike construction as I aged and wanted to explore different avenues. While in college, I started a job with an electrical contractor that was initially intended to last only three days. Things went well, and I completed the work in a day and a half. He mentioned that I could continue working if I kept myself busy. I realized I loved the work and had a talent for electrical wiring. Since I wanted to marry soon, I left school and worked full-time as an electrician. Fast forward 20+ years, I now own my own business, have been happily married for 24 years, and have six kids. God is good.
