As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. He later transitioned to a general contractor, building numerous homes. I helped him by carrying bricks, blocks, and cement, doing whatever tasks he required. I helped him with home construction, and I think I drilled my first electrical hole at the age of 7. Honestly, as I grew older, I developed a dislike for construction and sought other opportunities. While attending college, I took a job with an electrical contractor that was supposed to last only three days. I did well and wrapped up the work in a day and a half. He told me I could keep working if I remained productive. I found that I truly enjoyed the work and had a knack for electrical wiring. Wanting to get married quickly, I dropped out of school and worked full-time as an electrician. More than 20 years later, I run my own business, have enjoyed 24 years of marriage, and have six children. I am grateful for all my blessings.
