William obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. Edward pursued a BS in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly. In 1989, the sons purchased the business from Clarence and his wife. We added Electrical Engineering to our offerings in 1981, and it has grown steadily. The average number of employees is around 60 to 70, but we peaked at 150 while working on a five-story hospital project in Santa Maria for Marian Hospital in 2011. Thoma Electric features divisions dedicated to Electrical Engineering, Major Electrical Construction, Small Electrical Construction, and Electrical Services. “Important projects come in various sizes”. Thoma Electric is equipped to oversee projects from cradle to grave, from design through construction. We provide Data/Comm services, copper and fiber work, solar installations, and emergency standby power systems. I earned my BS in Industrial Technology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1983. I was employed at National Semiconductor from 1984 to 1986, serving as a Manufacturing Engineer in wafer fabrication. In late 1986, I came back to SLO to work at Thoma Electric as an Estimator and Project Manager. My responsibilities have expanded to include Company Safety Director and Manager of the Service Plus division, focusing on small to medium electrical projects. Our team resolves electrical problems and manages small time and material jobs for residential and commercial clients.
