As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. Later, he shifted to general contracting, where he built a variety of homes. I helped him by carrying bricks, blocks, and cement, doing whatever tasks he required. I was always there to help when he built homes; I believe I drilled my first electrical hole when I was just 7. To be honest, I grew to dislike construction as I got older and wanted to pursue other paths. While attending college, I took a job with an electrical contractor that was supposed to last only three days. Things went well, and I completed the work in a day and a half. He told me I could keep working if I remained productive. I found that I truly enjoyed the work and had a knack for electrical wiring. Eager to marry, I left school and committed to working full-time as an electrician. Fast forward 20+ years, I now own my own business, have been happily married for 24 years, and have six kids. I am grateful for all my blessings.
