My journey started in 1973 as a painter with my uncle in Vista, CA, during my high school years. After finishing high school, I headed to Utah to study construction and worked in the tile industry and a cabinet manufacturing company. I started my own painting business, then moved on to renovate and sell my own projects. Coincidentally, my sister chose to build a house in Carmichael, CA, leading me back to Sacramento. After I completed her house, I launched my firm again, and here I am, 27 years later, still going strong.

I’m Ken Abreu, born in 1955, and construction has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I lost track of how many wooden shacks I constructed as a kid; any stray board found its way into my projects, both above and below ground. During high school, I signed up for a home construction class with a friend, excited to begin our careers in the building industry. After a family member passed away, I moved to San Diego, CA, and I never looked back. I completed high school in Vista and worked as a painter for my uncle. My parents then moved to Crescent City, CA, prompting me to join them for another remodeling project. I returned to Utah for a few years, working in ceramic tile, cabinetry, and framing. After that, I relocated to Sacramento, CA, to construct a house for my sister in Carmichael. After finishing her house, I launched Abreu Enterprises, starting with painting and gradually adding tile setting and drywall. Today, 27 years later, I remain here, still dedicated to renovation.
