I grew up immersed in the trades. My father had an excavation firm, and I learned the ropes with a shovel. I joke that I have a PhD in shoveling. He encouraged me to work alongside different tradesmen every summer while I was in high school. I started with my Godfather, who is an electrician. The next summer, I collaborated with a plumber and a land surveyor. During my third summer, I was assigned a ""project house"" to renovate and sell. Even though the financial return was small, I acquired a deep understanding of home systems. Lastly, I worked with an HVAC firm, where I installed new furnaces and air conditioning systems. These opportunities equipped me with a strong foundation for my own business.
