Being the son of Calvin, a mason, I remember working with him since I was a child. He eventually became a general contractor, constructing many houses. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. I was always there to help when he built homes; I believe I drilled my first electrical hole when I was just 7. Truthfully, I came to dislike construction as I aged and wanted to explore different avenues. During my college years, I took a temporary job with an electrical contractor that was meant to last just three days. I did well and wrapped up the work in a day and a half. He told me I could keep working if I remained productive. I realized I loved the work and had a talent for electrical wiring. Since I wanted to marry soon, I left school and worked full-time as an electrician. Now, over 20 years later, I own my own business, have been happily married for 24 years, and have six children. God is good.
