Explore our website for more insights. In 1962, Clarence Thoma launched Thoma Electric. His sons, William (Bill) and Edward (Ed), grew up immersed in the business. Bill earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Edward pursued a BS in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly. In 1989, Bill and Ed took over the business from their parents. We added Electrical Engineering to our offerings in 1981, and it has grown steadily. Our workforce typically ranges from 60 to 70 employees, peaking at 150 during a five-story hospital project in Santa Maria for Marian Hospital in 2011. Our company includes divisions for Electrical Engineering, Major Electrical Construction, Small Electrical Construction, and Electrical Services. “Every project matters, no matter the scale”. We handle projects from start to finish, including design and construction. We also specialize in Data/Comm work, including copper and fiber installations, solar systems, and emergency standby power solutions. I completed my BS in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1983. I was employed at National Semiconductor from 1984 to 1986, serving as a Manufacturing Engineer in wafer fabrication. I returned to SLO in 1986 to take on the roles of Estimator and Project Manager at Thoma Electric. My role has evolved to include Company Safety Director and Manager of the Service Plus division, which handles small to medium electrical projects. Our team resolves electrical problems and manages small time and material jobs for residential and commercial clients. We provide emergency electrical services after hours for urgent needs.
