As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. He eventually became a general contractor, constructing many houses. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. I was always there to help when he built homes; I believe I drilled my first electrical hole when I was just 7. Truthfully, I came to dislike construction as I aged and wanted to explore different avenues. While attending college, I took a job with an electrical contractor that was supposed to last only three days. Things went well, and I completed the work in a day and a half. He offered me continued work if I stayed busy. I found that I truly enjoyed the work and had a knack for electrical wiring. Since I wanted to marry soon, I left school and worked full-time as an electrician. Now, over 20 years later, I own my own business, have been happily married for 24 years, and have six children. I am grateful for all my blessings.
