For additional details, please check our website. In 1962, Clarence Thoma launched Thoma Electric. Bill and Ed, his sons, were raised within the company. William graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from Cal Poly. Ed completed his BS in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly. The brothers acquired the company from their parents in 1989. Electrical Engineering was integrated into our services in 1981 and has expanded consistently since then. We usually employ between 60 and 70 staff, reaching a high of 150 during a five-story hospital project for Marian Hospital in Santa Maria in 2011. Thoma Electric encompasses divisions for Electrical Engineering, Major Electrical Construction, Small Electrical Construction, and Electrical Service. “All projects are significant, regardless of size”. Thoma Electric can manage nearly any project from inception to completion, covering design and construction. We provide Data/Comm services, copper and fiber work, solar installations, and emergency standby power systems. I earned my BS in Industrial Technology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1983. I was employed at National Semiconductor from 1984 to 1986, serving as a Manufacturing Engineer in wafer fabrication. I returned to San Luis Obispo at the end of 1986 to join Thoma Electric as an Estimator and Project Manager. My responsibilities have expanded to include Company Safety Director and Manager of the Service Plus division, focusing on small to medium electrical projects. Our team resolves electrical problems and manages small time and material jobs for residential and commercial clients.
