Founded in 1949 by Tennis and Alma Jackson, and has been a reliable provider of electrical and safety solutions in the West Alabama region for over 65 years. Residential and commercial security services were initiated as part of the electric company in the early 1950s.

In 1972 Chuck Turner as a partner of Jackson Electric and expanded security system design and installation. In 1978 the division of the firm's security services from the electrical services, and in 1982 it became the dedicated security branch. In that same year, JSS acquired Business Security Services in the Tuscaloosa area.

The year 1988 saw, he purchased both the electric and safety divisions and merged the companies. The year 1992 marked, Turner's son, Brad was named Vice President of Jackson Security Services, and the year 2000, Essary was hired as the VP and General Manager.

During 2014, Jackson Electric Services joined forces with a comparable firm in the local region. At present, Jackson Security Services continues its focus to excellence. He is still guiding the company as General Manager and Vice President.
