In 1949, Jackson Electric began by the Jackson family, and has been a reliable provider of power and safety solutions in West Alabama for over six decades. Residential and commercial security services were first introduced as part of the power company in the early 1950s.

In 1972 Chuck Turner join as a stakeholder of the electric company and developed intrusion detection design and setup. The year 1978 marked the splitting of the firm's security services from the electric side, and in 1982 it became Jackson Security Services. In that same year, JSS purchased a local security firm in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The year 1988 saw, he acquired both the power and safety divisions and merged the companies. In 1992, Brad Turner was appointed to the role of Vice President of Jackson Security Services, and by 2000, Jim Essary was recruited as the General Manager and Vice President.

In 2014, Jackson Electric Services merged with a like-minded business in the Tuscaloosa vicinity. At present, Jackson Security Services carries on its commitment to service. Jim Essary remains at the helm the company as its General Manager and VP.
