Jackson Electric was established by the Jackson family, and has been a dependable provider of electric and security services in West Alabama for over 65 years. Residential and commercial security services were first introduced as part of the power company in the mid-20th century.

In 1972 Chuck Turner join as a partner of Tennis Jackson Electric Company and developed intrusion detection design and implementation. The year 1978 marked the splitting of the firm's security services from the power division, and in 1982 it became JSS. In that same year, JSS purchased a competitor in security in the Tuscaloosa area.

In 1988, Turner purchased both the power and protection services and combined the companies. During 1992, Brad Turner was appointed as Vice President of Jackson Security Services, and the year 2000, Jim Essary was recruited as the General Manager and Vice President.

In 2014, Jackson Electric Services merged with a comparable firm in the Tuscaloosa vicinity. Currently, Jackson Security Services remains its focus to quality. Jim Essary continues to lead the company as the VP and General Manager.
