I was referred to Zest electric by a friend. I called the company and spoke to Luis the owner regarding up grading an electrical panel from a one meter to a three meters. I previously had the meter drop assignment and also I have pulled the LABS permits. I was willing to hire him on the spot since he was referred and I already had 2 other bids from contractors without referrals. With this referral I thought he would have been a good choice. Not a small job at a job site. (a 15 mile drive from my location) On Monday 1/3/22 Luis scheduled an appointment for 2 days later 1/5/22 . UPDATE: On the appointment day 1/5/22, 2 hours ahead of the scheduled appointment I called Luis at Zest Electric. An answer phone picked up. I left a message that I was confirming the appointment that he had scheduled in 2 hours. I drove to the site and waited for Luis the owner to arrive. Fifteen minutes after his scheduled appointment time and a NO SHOW I called Luis. This time he picked up, I asked what is his estimated time of arrive for this appointment? I reminded him I called 2 hours ago as a reminder. He replied, ""Where?"" I again gave the address. Luis's reply was, ""Oh, I'm sick!"" I was shocked and disappointment. I said, ""Now what?"" His reply was, ""He is sick and not coming!"" I asked again, ""So now what?"" He said, ""Maybe next week!"" I thanked him and said, ""Good By!""
Bottom-line: I won't call this company back. I am glad I learned before hiring him that he is a flake and not a man of his word. Or even a good business man to response or confirm appointments. And a NO SHOW! I am grateful I to have learned early on to Zest past this flaky electrician and his way he does business. He would have been a problem though out this job if this is how he starts. He lost a job close to $15,000.00 based on my other estimates. I am so lucky. I will let my friend know of my experience so she knows in the future what a flake this business is and not refer Luis to anyone else. I have began to tell others of my bad dealings and wasting my time.

Luis saw and implemented our vision better than I could have imagined! He added recessed lighting throughout the house, demolished and upgraded old drop-down lights, replaced lighting fixtures, upgraded outlets and light switches, and required some faulty electrical lines. He was knowledgeable and offered suggestions throughout the process. He also worked around other home improvement projects (acoustic ceiling removal and interior paint) to get the job done in our needed time frame. Additionally, the price was competitive and we were happy to support a local SCV business. We are SO happy with the results. I definitely recommend this business for all your electrical needs!

After we met Luis and saw his level of work, we ask him to come back and light every room in the house. On our first project, he was very careful to warn me about the holes he would have to cut in the ceiling/walls to wire the new lighting. He even surprised us by being able to do the master without making any holes. I asked him to check the crawl space to see if it would be possible to do the two other rooms without the holes and he could so as soon as we could we had him back and of course, we are very pleased. We had errands to run while he did his work but had no problem leaving him to do his thing and trusting he would communicate whatever he needed us. It's sorta sad we don't have any more projects for him but absolutely give him our highest recommendation!

Luis did an outstanding job installing several ceiling fans, outdoor lighting in the front and back, as well as security motion lights on the perimeter of the house. He also installed multi-functional light switches to operate the fans which required him to do a complex rewiring for our outdated home. Whatever I asked if he could do, he made it happen. What really impressed me was that the entire job was done in less than two weeks after my initial call. Amazing!! I will use Luis for any electrical needs going forward.

Luis and his assistant Steve were great. They did several jobs at my house. And it all came out great. Everything is still working great. I made a couple changes the day of installation from it's original plans. And Luis did not hesitate or question it. He went ahead and just did it. He fixed many problems that previous workers had made.
He was on time and wore a mask the whole time here. Great communication and reasonable prices. I highly recommend him and will definitely use him again.

I'm a type A perfectionist, and I am beyond impressed with how our recessed lighting turned out in all 4 rooms in our house. He aligned everything to the T, and left our home spotlessly clean. He's really easy to work with, and really cares to deliver on his promises and make you happy.
