I had a complex job to do with a second unit. Joey was the only elecician who noticed the correct way to run the wires from the main panel through the house above the rafters in a crawlspace. Just based on his good design sensibility and professionalism I would recommend zen.
The wiring was installed in a very safe & efficient way. Everything was done correctly, however other wiring was damaged in the process, & was not fixed, Joey gave it a quick look, then dismissed it saying it was ""old wiring and probably it was bad"", however I had told him the entire house has been rewired less than 10 years ago. So, he saw some old wiring in the crawlspace but it was dead. The truth is an entire circuit in my living room has not been working all winter since the job was done and he has skated out of any responsibility in fixing this, & I have a bit of a problem with that. Electrical work always runs into thousands of dollars. Relatively Zen was reasonably priced. Based on my experience I'd say they prefer new installations to repairs.
Joey is extremely personable but very hurried. If you're going to install new wiring I recommend these guys , fast, showing up, professional and safe. Getting your plugs, lights & placement ready ahead of time will save everyone time and money. Aside from being speedy and not fixing the wiring that was perhaps displaced as a result of the job I would highly recommend Joey and his crew.

Great local electrician. Joey was very efficient and got our electrical work performed on schedule and under estimated cost. Even carried recently delivered packages up our stairs while we were away. Will be using again for any electrical work needed. Thumbs up!!

It took this person 1.5 years to respond to me via yelp message and when they did, they were rude and not customer focused at all. Definitely not someone I would recommend, especially considering I found fantastic electrician to help me out that was super responsive on here.

Joey is great. We had to tear out the walls in a building and discovered a mess of improperly done wiring. Joey figured out the most efficient way to fix everything, compared to other electricians that looked at it. He gave us a great price, and everything looks beautiful now. We almost hate to close up the walls to cover it up! Highly recommended!

I've been using Zen Electric for the past few years. Joey is very knowledgeable and precise and does excellent work -- he added a new panel and virtually rewired my entire house. I recently had him do additional wiring on an expansion as I've been so happy with his work in the past. He is honest down to the nickel, always shows up and finishes the work and is responsive. I think his pricing is more than fair given the fact I can trust him to show up and do the work.

I contacted Zen Electric last year after seeing their flyer and liking the philosophy. I needed someone awesome to check on some basic work that was done by another electrician. He came by at the end of a work day, was super thorough, fixed and explained the situation clearly and without judgement. Not a lot of people would be willing to do that. Joey Burtner is thorough, efficient and professional. Provides ample explanation in layman's language of what the problems are and what needs to be done. We hired him to repair an immediate issue and will hire him next month to do a major re-working of our electrical installation at a vacation home.
