I have used Winters since 2009 and have found them very reliable, reasonably priced and efficient. I have a place 30 minutes from SLT. They do not have a problem coming up there. They have put in GFI outlets, replaced the electrical box, put in new lines for a dryer and oven, among a few of the larger projects.
They were not available once when I had an emergency. I called Gary Lowe's Electric. He came out and said all this stuff was wrong. He said he replaced two light switches (he did not). He put a hole in the wall and said he had to run a new line. He charged an outrageous amount (around $800.00). After he came out, part of the electrical (lights and outlets/ receptacles) were not working. He came back out and said it was a fuse and charge me $180.00 to come out and replace it. This is right after he came out and did the repair. Like the fuse (in the new electrical box) was not his fault. I had other guests visit and THE PROBLEM WAS STILL NOT FIXED. I called Gary numerous times and he said he was sick; he said he was in a car accident; he said his car was broken; he said he had a bad heart....
I finally called Winter's Electric again and a nice new guy, who was very professional, from Colorado (forgot his name; he's come out since then) came out. He replaced the switches (which he said looked original and showed me) and said there really was not a problem. The switches are connected to the receptacles and a GFI was tripped. So, Gary Lowe charge me tons of money without fixing the problem.
Winter's guy also replaced other receptacles that looked old to use up the whole hour of his time.
I seriously love Winter's and hope the care and professionalism I have received doesn't waver.

Very responsive, wired our hot tub up with a few day's prior notice. Reasonably priced and would recommend them again.

Careful, ethically challenged operation with high prices & poor service - took months to finish our job. When things go wrong they blame their customer. We needed to call another electrical company to redo the work.

Please if anyone ever needs an electrician DO NOT go to winters electric!!!!! I had an appointment to meet them at 1 pm I was called and notified at 10:40 that they needed to reschedule for 11. I hurried over there and sat in my car waiting for 40 minutes. When I called they blamed me and said I was not there. They're story changed twice and they persisted to be very rude. I have never in my life been so angry with a company. I have never even yelped anything about any business. This one took me over the edge. Everyone has a schedule to keep and a living to make. I bent over backwards for them and was treated terrible. I will do whatever I can to save someone else from pulling their hair out and having steam come out of their ears.

I had an issue with my breaker box being tripped numerous times. I called and they dispatched a guy for 12:30. The electronics called me about an hour before and said he would be on his way early if this was ok. When he showed up he was able to troubleshoot the issue within an hour and a half and identify several other issues that were going on. He was very polite, respectful and courteous. Well worth the money spent for peace of mind and to have a true professional in so many ways rectify the issue. Would highly recommend Winters Electric.

So, I need a fair amount of electrical work done on my house and have been considering using LEDs for some. Because this business touts that they do LED lighting, I stop in to see what they have. Well, I wasn't wanted. The girl at the first desk didn't greet me, so I greeted her and explained that one of the things I would like more information about are options for LEDs. Apparently, they don't sell fixtures, nor was she interested in telling me where I could get them. She then proceeded to inform me that I would need to use someone else if I wanted anything done ""anytime soon"" because their estimator is 3 weeks out. O.K., so I don't know anything about lighting or electrical stuff and this woman was obviously not interested in helping me at all. It was one of those icky experiences of wanting to give someone your business and them, rudely, making it very clear that they don't need it. I don't know how businesses like this survive with that kind of customer service. But, I got their point loud and clear...I'll find someone else.

I had a kitchen fire yesterday from my old electric stove's coil arcing out on a pot (THANKFULLY I am only minus a stove, 1 pot and a life or two of the 9 I had on Saturday)... I needed peace of mind that is was the age of my stove that it was finally biting the dust NOT the electrical wiring in my house. I called Winters this morning and they had their tech DANIEL come out to do an inspection on the breaker panel and outlet within 2 hours. Daniel was GREAT! Not only did he test what I needed tested for the new stove arriving tomorrow but he checked all of the breakers and relabeled the panel box for ease in the future. Well, the breakers are good, the outlet for the new stove is good and all is well. I really appreciate the professional and quick service WITH A SMILE I got from Daniel from Winters Electric today! I will be calling them when I remodel the house next year for sure!! TWO PAWS UP!!

I had an issue with the electricity in a house I was house sitting for which needed quick attention. I called and explained the situation to an extremely friendly receptionist and even though the electricians were booked for the day, they said they would try (no promises) to get someone out to me if any of the calls were shorter than expected which ended up happening.
The electrician was friendly, professional and was able to get the electricity restored saving a refrigerator full of food from going bad. I would not hesitate to call them again with any electrical issues.

After receiving my quote from Winter Electric I felt they were very pricey. One of my other contractors told me they would be. I hesitantly hired them to do the work simply because I could not get any other contractors to quote the job. Seems like there aren't too many electricians in the South Tahoe Area.
They were very expensive for the scope of work they did, to my surprise they only did a rough wire job in my kitchen, (12 total outlets & switches) then when we called and asked about why I had open electrical boxes with exposed wires, they put it on the bill as they quoted it that way, they left half of my breakers in my main box turned off with no explanation as to what I need to do to get everything up and running again. So we are also expected to put all of the switches on ourselves? They assume everyone knows how to do electrical? Hello... we hired them, If I were an electrician I would have done the work myself and saved close to $1700.
We are doing city permitted work so it all has to be inspected by the city. Fun fact.... they ran an electrical extension cord through my wall. While the city was there inspecting the city asked, ""why is their an extension cord ran through the wall like that? I explained that the electrician did that and said they always do that so it will be fine. The inspector tells me it is not to code."" When we asked the electrician about it, he said"" we do this all of the time"".
I wish I could say it ends here.
We get the bill for the rough wire job, they billed 2 electricians at 8 hours each.
I would not have questioned the bill if they had not put that they were on this job 8 hours each, I just so happen to be there the whole day with My husband and 2 sons and they showed up a little before 9am and worked for a little over an hour when the lead guy said, "" I have a doctor's appointment"" and the other one said, "" yeah I need to go to the store"" and they both left for over an hour, they both come back at the same time worked for about an hour and then went to lunch for an hour, they came back did some more work and left around 4:00pm. The time they were working at my house was approximately 5 hour each. Wow they charged me for their lead guys doctors appointment?...what?
So my husband wrote an email to them to mentioned a mistake in hours billed and if they had questions to please call. Well they emailed back and were a little rude and nasty with him. (Wow what wonderful customer service) They did call my husband and argued with him saying their workers told them that they worked 8 hours and that they don't lie. When my husband said he won't pay for hours that were not worked, they threatened to take us to court if we don't pay. Then stated, ""Every time they go to court, they win!!""
After more arguing they reduced the bill $269. We paid promptly with a credit card.
So a funny thing happened about 30 minutes later. They sent an email apologizing for the argument and offered to come do the finish work and that they were going to talk to their electrician about the Dr. appt. Why the change of Heart???

These guys were great. They came right out to the house and then told me that I should contact Sierra Electric and have the city of Lake Tahoe fix the problem. Then City of South Lake Tahoe fixed it. No charge. Thanks, Charles
