Our home office had an interesting electrical problem recently. One of the florescent ceiling light fixtures exploded! (Yes, with a shower of glowing embers falling and smoke pouring out of the fixture). Fortunately nothing caught fire but now we had a dark office.

I used the Yelp feature to communicate with electricians and got responses from several contractors. I have used Willow Glen Electric in the past, but they were not in the list presented by Yelp, but I was able to add them.

Willow Glen Electric responded promptly and presented a complete solution for the replacement of all three of the 40 year old fixtures with new, bright, dimmable LED fixtures at a reasonable price.

There was a problem with their first scheduled visit. After waiting a long while and nobody arrived, I called them and found out that nobody had ordered in advance the light fixtures. They thought that they could just pick them up from a supplier on the way over to the job. Unfortunately, they were out of stock so they couldn't do the job on the scheduled date. What they should have done was to order all the needed parts in advance so they would have everything before coming to the job. This they did correctly for the rescheduled visit.

Over a week later, at the rescheduled visit, they arrived with the correct fixtures and performed the work. They had to remove the old fixtures, do a bit of rewiring in the ceiling, and install the new fixtures. There were a few issues they had to overcome, but they solved them and the installation was successful.

There was a small issue at the end over the final price due to the unforeseen issues encountered in the installation, but it was resolved to everyone's satisfaction. My suggestion to them for the future, is for the installers to be in communication with their office and the customer when such things happen so that there are no surprises.

I used Willow Glen to install an EV charger. This was after a poor experience/misfire with my solar installer (a large national firm), who was not able to install the EV charger as desired. Willow Glen was prompt with the quote, very reasonable (for what I thought was a smaller job), and very timely. The two technicians were professional and very effective. I was excited to get the charger finally installed and had it in use the same day. Cheryl the scheduler had been the glue throughout the process and was a key member of the project team.

A few days after installation, we had an issue with a PG&E line into our house, which created notable electrical issues. I emailed Cheryl early one morning and she was quick to respond (before work hours) with sage advice! I called PG&E (per her instructions) right away and was able to have the issue resolved before 9:30 am. I was so impressed with Cheryl and the entire Willow Glen team, and plan to be a customer for life!

We hired Willow Glen for a main electrical panel upgrade. The project required coordination between myself, PG&E and Willow Glen, and took approximately 1 year to complete due to PG&E's schedule. The project was completed but during the installation of the new main panel, Willow Glen pierced our newly installed main water line when they installed a grounding rod. This resulted both a hole in and debris entering the main water line. Willow Glen hired Bambino's Plumbing Service to fix the damage. Bambino's Plumbing temporarily patched the hole in the main water line and installed a permanent fix on a follow up visit. While Bambino's Plumbing installed the temporary patch, I identified that one of our toilets no longer filled with water after a flush. Bambino's Plumbing investigated the issue and cleaned debris from the top assembly of the toilet's fill valve to get the toilet to fill with water. Note that the fill value wasn't thoroughly cleaned (i.e. valve body, shank). After using the toilet for some time, my wife and I noticed that the toilet was taking a significantly longer time to fill when compared to our other 2 toilets. All 3 toilets are the same make/model and newly installed. Upon identifying this issue we immediately contacted Willow Glen and requested support. Initially, Willow Glen sent an email to both Bambino's Plumbing and myself requesting for Bambino's Plumbing to double check the toilet and to bill Willow Glen for the service call. Per Willow Glen's email, I scheduled an appointment with Bambino's Plumbing but they did not show up. Bambino's Plumbing said they never received any confirmation stating that Willow Glen would cover any costs. As a result, I've called Willow Glen multiple times over the last 4 weeks requesting support. Unfortunately, Willow Glen has failed to follow up on any of their communications about this issue. I ended up scheduling an appointment with a different plumber. The new plumber removed the fill valve and showed me that it wasn't thoroughly cleaned (see attached image). It's extremely disappointing that Willow Glen did not take responsibly for the damage they caused, and also hired a plumber that was unreliable. My wife and I were looking forward to working with Willow Glen to install EV charger and future electrification projects but due to their lack of support and accountability we will look elsewhere.

Honest and Professional Electricians

Willow Glen Electric installed level 2 EV chargers in our garage. Everything was above expectation. Quoting was easy, efficient, and transparent. The electricians were all professional and experienced. Scheduling was easy and the team worked around my work schedule. The permits went through without a problem and the inspector complimented how professional the team was. Great experience all around!

We've hired Willow Glen three times now - first for a Tesla car charger (which worked out great), then had them come back and install a Powerwall.

That was a much more involved install over two days. Unfortunately, that install had a number of surprises along the way - we didn't know there was going to be an external (ugly) emergency shutoff switch, we didn't know that we might need to install bollards in front of the Powerwall (thankfully we didn't), and they thought that the heat sensor was working as intended when it loudly beeped every few minutes (it was still in demo mode). I would have loved to know about these things ahead of the install starting, not midway through. We also got a whole hour notice before learning a tech would come out to prepare for our city inspection - I had work that day and making sure I had a family member around and prepared to chat with them was an unnecessary stress. Looking back on it, this was a complicated job and it all came out well in the end.

Despite some of the communication issues with the Powerwall install, when we needed a ceiling fan replaced, Willow Glen was who we turned to. They were able to come out literally the next business day, the techs were friendly and nice, and the install was smooth and fast. I will say: they did completely ignore the form on their website when we filled it out - calling them is definitely the way to schedule work.

Overall, each time we've hired them, they've been professional, the price has been reasonable, and the quality of the work has been top notch. I would just make sure you have them walk you through exactly what they're doing for complicated installs so there aren't any surprises.

Recently had an EV charger installed. The whole process was quick, easy and efficient. The two guys who arrived (on time!) to install were absolutely brilliant. They took the time to come up with some options for running the cables, I assumed they'd just run conduit the whole side of my house (easiest / cheapest way) but instead they ran the cables through my attic. They had to break some stucco to get in to the power panel and my experience with other electricians / contractors is that is the beginning of a messy ordeal, but you'd never know they did it at all. Extremely clean and seamless install.

I'm a bit funny about things being neat / straight / spaced properly, but these guys were too, it seems. Couldn't be more pleased with it. To cap it off, without asking, I got a $150 credit on my invoice because they got done quicker than expected. Highly recommended!

Everything was done well from start to finish including pulling permits from the county. Everyone's easy to work with as well. They don't try to ignore the customers concerns on anything that needs to be addressed.
