Company Overview

We only utilize materials that we would choose for our own family. We have served over 10,000 satisfied clients. You’ll find our response time is quicker than that of our rivals. Geoff was featured by NBC as a leading authority on electrical panels. Geoff expressed, “We contribute a share of our profits to animal charities because I care for them greatly!” We have been recognized as one of the top three electricians in the Bay Area. We boast more than 250 favorable reviews on multiple sites. The first project I undertook was in 1967. “He is reliable, on time, and a great asset.” “I provide a detailed breakdown in plain English, so you understand every aspect. I explain the entire process: consultation, bid preparation, obtaining signatures, scheduling, purchasing materials, and securing permits. Most tasks don’t extend beyond a few days. I am the one on-site, not subcontracting to others like some of my competitors. We can conduct a video call, and I can often estimate costs from that, which saves you time. Video calls, WhatsApp, Zoom, panel upgrades, EV Level 2 charger installations, generator setups. We perform panel repairs and replacements, 100 to 200 amp upgrades, PG&E Federal Pacific, Sylvania Zinsco, and fuse panel modifications. We also work on automotive EV charging stations, electric vehicle circuits, Tesla circuits, sub-panel additions, knob and tube work, three-phase systems, new circuits, LED lighting, recessed lighting, and commercial electrical projects. Since 1967, we have served over 10,000 clients. The first project I worked on was a knob and tube repair with my father back in 1967. Williams Electric is my pride. Since 1976, I have been a full-time installer, holding an Associate of Science degree in electricity obtained in 1981, with 60,000 hours of practical experience. One error can lead to significant issues for a client. I have completed 3,000 knob and tube jobs without a single fire, overload, or callback due to poor workmanship.

I have cleared 3,000 inspections. With hundreds of thousands of connections and over 10,000 clients, nothing goes wrong after I leave the job site. I’ve worked on 200 kitchen remodels, 110 bathroom renovations, and 35 new homes, helping many businesses start with new electrical systems and lighting. I work with diverse individuals from all backgrounds, which has shown me the richness of our world. I appreciate everyone who has hired me and contributed to my success. I aim to do good, safeguarding homes, lives, pets, and children from danger.

We are inclusive, employing people from diverse backgrounds, serving all LGBTQ clients, and hiring individuals with disabilities and immigrants. I am recognized as the electrician to the stars, having served many leading real estate experts and celebrities, including realtors, home inspectors, city and building inspectors, athletes, writers, and artists. I am proud of Williams Electric. In 1981, I received my Associate of Science degree in electrical work. I have performed 2,000 PG&E main panel upgrades, 3,000 Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panel replacements, and Sylvania Zinsco panel changes. We gladly accept small jobs. With 40 years of troubleshooting experience, I have handled many electrical remodels, three-phase circuits for businesses, landscape 12-volt LED lighting jobs, hot tubs, saunas, new circuit breakers, fuse panel replacements, electrical grounding systems, GFI outlets, residential repairs, and commercial conduit runs.

This morning my microwave made a popping sound that made me very nervous. I called and was able to make phone contact with Rhonda right away. I explained my concerns, and she said she would check the schedule and get back to me. She did, within 20 minutes, and Geoff was able to come check things out in short order. Wiring is fine, I do need a new microwave. I was so happy to have this checked out so quickly, and not have to worry about wiring with everything else going on in our world these days. I so appreciate both Rhonda's and Geoff's efficient and very kind responses to calls for help! Thank you so much!

Awesome experience, had Williams Electric out to troubleshoot and replace a defective electric panel using unsafe arc fault breakers. House is only 16 years old, 3500sq. ft luxury home in Montclair hills of Oakland. That job went really smoothly. So two months later when a circuit using DFI blew and took out the refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle, called them again. Geoff came out the next morning and found both a defective DFI AND a defective circuit breaker. He replaced both, got everything working again in thirty minutes and even left us with treats for the family dog.

I blew out my wall outlet using a space heater in my son's room. Less than 24 hours later it was fixed thanks to the speedy and competent work of Williams electric. They responded to the automated yelp message I sent quickly, were easy to set up the appointment over the phone, reasonable pricing, he was on time and professional, did great work. Nothing to complain about, I wish working with skilled workers was always this easy.

Williams Electric did a great job diagnosing various electrical problems I had in my house. A few years ago a new main was installed in connection with construction at our house. For some reason, in the last few months, several breakers kept tripping on the old knob and tube wiring. My husband kept trying to fix it, but he wasn't successful. We were expecting many relatives for the Christmas holidays, so I didn't want the power going out during dinner parties. After looking around, we asked Williams Electric to come out. Geoff showed up on time, examined the main breaker, a few splice boxes, and fixed the problem in less than two hours. This was about one month ago, and we didn't have any electrical problems during our Christmas holidays. Kudos to Williams Electric.

Wanted to take a moment to recommend Geoff and Williams Electric for your electrical needs. Geoff has supported us on a few occasions and recently added additional outlets and upgraded the circuit breakers on our 99 year old home in Crocker Highlands. After the project, we had an issue with one of the circuits at night, and after a call to Geoff, he cam out that evening right away to resolve it. Thanks for the support and responsiveness, Geoff!

Had a problem where half the outlets and light fixtures were out randomly in the house, while the rest of the house was fine. Our home warranty company flaked on us, unable to find an electrician and told us to find one on our own. Spoke to Rhonda at Williams and explained the problem. She recommended I call PGE to look at the problem first cuz it sounded like a utility company problem, and not something within the house. I called and PG&E arrived within 20 minutes and had the problem solved 20 minutes later. Who knew that there are multiple strands of wire coming into the house from the utility pole, and that one could be loose or corroded while the others are fine? I greatly appreciate Rhonda's honest assessment and recommendation. We'll call Williams for sure next time we have an electrical problem within the house.

Wow, Geoff just left my house and did an awesome job! I had a circuit breaker tripping in my 3,000 SF house in the Oakland Hills and just googled ""Oakland Electricians open Saturday"" and Williams Electric bubbled up as the highest rated company so they were my first call. Ronda (I see is Geoff's wife) answered and said ""Geoff is booked today but tell me your problem and let's see what we can do."" Ronda understands this work and asked me a few troubleshooting questions to help me for free and potentially completely avoid Geoff even coming over. The last thing they were doing was ""trying to sell me"" on anything.

I read some of these bad reviews below and I cannot imagine this guy Geoff warrants any of this and probably think this is really hurting his business.

He knows his craft inside and out - that's a fact.

So Geoff called me and said what we would be doing, how much it would cost and the steps to figure out root cause - AND HE WANTED TO MAKE SURE I WAS OK WITH ALL OF THIS BEFORE HE CAME OVER EVEN THOUGH HE WAS GOING OUT OF HIS WAY TO FIT ME IN!

I said sure and thanks for fitting me in. Geoff comes over and the quote is $250 to troubleshoot, replace the breaker, find root cause, and put everything back together. Sounded fair. Geoff replaced the breaker and it still tripped and we one by one put the lights back on that were on that breaker. Within 10 minutes we found the culprit - the outside lights.

We looked at the one below the porch and it was leaking water. Geoff didn't have to do this but he pulled the light down and the wires were shorting and burnt and about a cup of water came out of the light. Geoff seriously saved me from having a potentially really BAD problem.

He also went up inside the light and clipped the wires and capped them so we for sure were not going to have more problems.

Now I have a serious water leak that I have to get fixed but that's not Geoff's issue.

Geoff felt so bad for my water leak issue knowing this is going to cost me money that he only charged me $189 for something that should have been more like $350.

Check out my reviews. I write mostly good ones and don't trash people for fun or if they are my competition.

it sounds like Geoff is not getting a fair shake on some of these reviews because he knows what he is doing and did a great job. If a reviewer has 60 other 1 star reviews they should look in the mirror.

The poor guy is almost paranoid and so careful about taking new business and that's not right or fair.

I had no idea who he was before this morning but felt compelled to write this.

Geoff reported me to the fire marshall. They just left. They found nothing to be wrong with my house except for the sub-standard work done by Geoff Williams. The fire marshall apologized profusely for disturbing me. The fire marshall said he'd take it from here, ""His reporting of you is obviously flagrantly false and revenge motivated! There's nothing wrong with your house, except for his work. Sorry to have disturbed you. We will take it from here. We've had experience with him before. He's a very disturbed and unstable individual. We'll let the police know he threatened you and your home and family."" Said the fire marshal before he left. Geoff and his license are being investigated. Geoff's yet to reimburse me, as he promised...

It's so hard to find a reliable electrician - but Geoff is one of them! When I called and explained my small problem (I may have (definitely did) washed an outside wall and got water into a GFCI outlet which then blew the outlet. I made matters worse by attempting to replace it myself) Ronda immediately tried to get me onto the schedule. I wasn't able to do the next day as she had proposed so she worked with me to get a time for the following weekend. Geoff called before our appt and said he could be early! In no time Geoff had me all taken care of and we again had power outside.

I wish that I had known about Williams Electric a few years ago when I had replaced and upgraded my panel. So many other electricians that I had talked to about this told me that my problem was just too small for them to bother with.

My home remodel bucket list has a complete re-wire of my house in a few years and I'll be sure to use Geoff for it. He is a master of his trade and is very easy to work with.
