We asked WEST Hills electrical for an estimate to upgrade our house which was originally built in 1950's. The house required a circuit panel upgrade/ relocation, changing a large number of lamps and upgrading the wiring and putting them on dimmer switches, installing recessed lighting, adding several outlets, updating many old outlets to GFI, and a number of other items. We had bid it out to a number of electricians but were most pleased with the way Don, the owner of West Hills Electrical handled and explained the estimate.

From there we were very glad at how carefully he handled all the details from planning, changes, dealing with the city, interacting with the main contractor, and all the communication which was sometimes 1-2x/ day. He was available, thorough, trustworthy and professional. He and his crew worked very efficiently and accomplished a lot of detailed work in a timely fashion with quality results including meticulously cleaning up after each workday.

Whenever he said he was going to do or say something or be somewhere he followed through thoughtfully and like clockwork. He is not only true to his word but he is extremely knowledgeable and competent about all aspects of electricity. He was really experienced and helpful with all the permit details and patiently dealt with all the time-consuming requirements with scheduling and rescheduling with the inspector.

Since then Don and his crew have worked on our other property as well, even though it was pretty far for him. His pricing is very fair and he even transferred the savings to us whenever he is able to get materials, such as recessed lights, at bulk cost.
All in all we are VERY glad that we found West Hills electrical and would recommend him highly.

Couldn't ask for a better experience with a contractor. Don (owner) and Chris upgraded our electric panel, converted numerous ungrounded outlets to GFCI, added new outlets with dedicated circuits for space heaters.

We solicited quotes from several electricians. West Hills' prices were among the best, the owner seemed like a straight shooter, their license-bonding-insurance all checked out fine, and their Yelp reviews were great so we went with them.

Before the job started Don explained everything that was going to happen very clearly - the scope of the work, how long it would take (best and worst case scenarios), what additional costs might potentially come up, etc. He was flexible in presenting different upgrade options, mindful of our budget limitations.

It was a three day process, they worked their butts off the entire time, and everything went smooth, exactly as described beforehand - no nasty surprises, no creeping inflation of project costs.

They did what they said they would, in the timeframe they said they would do it, for the cost that they quoted (slightly less in fact because they discovered that fewer outlets needed converting than they had originally estimated).

They left our home very clean and the workmanship was outstanding. They were very respectful and careful while working inside the home. Really can't ask for more than that.

After three bouts of vandalism that were getting progressively worse, we were advised by the police department to have outside security cameras installed. I called and met with FIVE different companies whose pricing and information varied so greatly that I was thoroughly frustrated. One company said they ""didn't need to come to the property, just send the address and I can google how it looks and send you an estimate."" I finally called Don of West Hills Electric on the advice of a freind. What a wonderful man!! Being a female and single parent, most of the people I met with treated me as though I was born without a brain. One company - a VERY well know security company told me I needed to have an alarm system in additon to the outside camera installation or I was selling myself short. Another verbally quoted me $800 and sent me a written estimate for $1700!! Don came and walked around the property, asked what I wanted to accomplish and gave me a price. His price I felt was very reasonable. He came to do the installation with Chris. He explained what he planned to do which included having to go through the crawl space under the house as I do not have an attic. I tried to get him to just run the wires outside of the house and cover the wires in waterproof casing, but he refused saying it would not look professional. When I said I really didn't care about how it looked but was more concerned about them having to crawl under the house (which is throoughly disgusting as I've been down there!!) and running the wiring outside the house would be faster, he still refused. His work, both inside and outside of my home is impeccable. He was THOROUGHLY conscientious of cleaning up after each area of work. In order to get the motion lights working properly, he had to make MANY return trips because I wanted the lighting to work a certain way. When I called him to tell him the time on the recorder was off, he came again with a smile. If ever I need electrical work, West HIlls Electric will be my very first recommendation. Most importantly, Don is fair, honest and does his best to ensure his customer is completely satisfied. What a sincere pleasure to find that in this day and age.

I had an estimate done by West Hills Electric on 08/17/12 (a very reasonable estimate) and hired them to do the work on 09/11/12 in my garage and inside my home. I was very pleased with the quality of work, their respect for my home, and their cleanliness. I have a dog and they made extra careful not to leave the gate open. They came on time in the morning and didn't leave until the work was done. I would definitely use them again!

I had quite a bit of work done by West Hills. The quality was generally good, but there were multiple small issues that made me feel as though I wasn't really respected as a customer - trash and half-empty water bottles left around the house, moulding removed from the ceiling above a fan, and then left sitting on top of the fixture, a recessed light installed in a closet without covering the hanging clothes, leaving them covered with plaster dust, and the worst - taking off before work was completed to take care of a more important customer's job, extending the time before my house was finished. The great reviews on Yelp were a big part of the reason why I chose this company, but I didn't get the quality of service that other reviewers seem so happy about.

I would definitely hire West Hills Electric again!

Electrical work can be intimidating. Electrician's seem to speak a different language. With different requirements and options as far as amps and volts and wiring, it can be mind numbing. Not to mention, that a wrong decision can kill you. This is why we hire skilled electrician's in the first place.

West Hills Electric was one of three bids that I got to install a 40a / 240v receptacle in my garage and I can't say enough about them. A few things that I appreciated, were that Don answered the phone every single time I called. He came over to give me an estimate when he said he would and was on time on the day of the job. None of which I could say about the other bids (as far as answering the phone or coming by when they said they would). When Don had to come inside the house to check something, he put booties on over his shoes so that he wouldn't track dirt inside (it's the seemingly insignificant details that can set a business apart). Lastly, I have to say, his prices seem fair. Put all of that together and you have a winning formula for a good business. Great job guys!

West Hills Electric proved to me why I turn to yelp for help now instead of the yellow pages. Thanks to great reviews on yelp I decided to make my first and only call to Don at West Hills.

I needed some rather major work done to install a 20 Amp Dedicated circuit breaker for a new high power electrical device I had just purchased.

I like that Don did not try to just get my business with some sort of low-ball type of offer just to come out. Those usually end up with the bad news coming later. He offered me a wide range that the job could cost and said that although he knew the my neighborhood well, he needed to visit first and then he could give me an exact cost.

I thought the price was very fair, but the service, friendly attitude, and the quality of work was awesome. He brought out Jay who works with him, and I honestly can't say enough about them. They even helped me move this heavy tanning bed that was put together in another room, after helping me disassemble it,. That was done so it would fit through the doors. It was very heavy and awkward and they were kind enough to stick around and help me. That was not their job, but that is what someone that cares about more than a check does in business.

I know who I will recommend to family and friends going forward if they need any electrical help.

These guys are fantastic! We recently hired Don to install and run power/wall switches for 2 ceiling fans, one on a 20 ft angled ceiling and one in a master bedroom, 12 ft ceiling. Neither location had access from above. He told us we might have some holes in the ceiling afterward from running wires, which would require a painter to fill, plaster, paint, etc. We weren't thrilled about it, but that's part of the deal. Somehow, they (Don and Jay) were able to do the job without making any holes at all! It was unbelievable really.

Don really cares about the customer and wants you to be happy with his work, and judging by what I saw this week, that won't be a problem. They also took great care not to get any dirt, debris, etc. on our furniture and floors - covered everything they thought might get dirty. Also, they replaced 5 CFL's in our kitchen with LED fixtures and lights. Great work.

I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat. If you're looking for an electrician, it means you've either used one before and wouldn't hire them again, or you're trying to find a reliable one. Well, hire Don and you won't have to look any further.
