In 1988, Bernie Murphy founded West Coast Electrical & Lighting Services in Fort Myers, Florida, and he remains at the helm of the company today, which was originally named ""West Coast Fire Equipment."" At first, Bernie and his crew focused on providing fire alarms and extinguishers to businesses and residential communities, but they soon expanded their offerings to include emergency lighting and a range of commercial lighting solutions.

Corporate Philosophy - Our commitment is to do it correctly. This simple principle is one we hold dear. Our technicians follow defined protocols for each task. They emphasize safety and refrain from shortcuts. Our rigorous standards differentiate us from competing electrical companies, enabling us to thrive for over 25 years.

In January 1981, I entered the fire equipment field, just a week after finishing high school, by taking a position at Fountain Fire Equipment in Ft Myers, FL. After eight years of growth within the company, I opted to create my own business, which I founded in December 1988 under the name West Coast Fire Equipment, Inc. For the past 27 years, I have run this business successfully. In 1990, I began offering lighting products and repairs under the fire equipment name, and the business continued to expand until I established a new company, West Coast Lighting of SW FL, in January 2001. In 2015, we changed our name to West Coast Electrical & Lighting Services to better align with our current operations. I have received training in specialized equipment to diagnose electrical problems and have over 25 years of experience in this area. We are the go-to company when others cannot resolve the issue.
