Established in 1988 in Fort Myers, Florida by Bernie Murphy, who still manages the company, West Coast Electrical & Lighting Services was initially known as ""West Coast Fire Equipment."" Initially, Bernie and his team concentrated on supplying fire alarms and extinguishers to businesses and residential areas, but they quickly broadened their scope to include emergency lighting and various types of commercial lighting.

I began my career in the fire equipment sector in January 1981, just a week after graduating high school, when I joined Fountain Fire Equipment in Ft Myers, FL. After eight years of growth within the company, I opted to create my own business, which I founded in December 1988 under the name West Coast Fire Equipment, Inc. For the past 27 years, I have run this business successfully. In 1990, I began selling lighting products and performing repairs under the fire equipment name, and the business flourished until I created a new entity, West Coast Lighting of SW FL, in January 2001. In 2015, we changed our name to West Coast Electrical & Lighting Services to better align with our current operations. I am trained in using specialized tools to identify electrical issues and bring over 25 years of experience to the table.
