Recommended Customer Reviews

I've worked with Steve, on many houses and for many projects, for nearly eight years. I called him originally through the recommendation of a friend, to do some basic electrical work on a house I manage. Since then, he has gone from being just a great electrician to becoming a licensed contractor.
He has a great working knowledge of all things electrical, and his ability to find simple solutions to complex issues is a huge plus. I'm always on a budget for my own home, and he always works within it. When there is a larger budget, he doesn't take advantage, but is able to provide the best value for the money.
In the time he's worked for me, he's repaired a second-story deck that was losing its structural integrity, completely remodeled two bathrooms, rewired a large home--replacing all old lighting and wiring with new, installed lighting inside and out for four different homes that I manage, installed electrical in a large and complicated swimming pool, and rebuilt the supports for a formerly sagging back porch.
He's personable, reliable, on schedule, and detail-oriented. I highly recommend West Coast Electric!

It's unfortunate to have to write a negative review about someone. It is especially sad since I would have never expected it.
I have worked with Steve before when I was ""renting"" a house. He seemed like a stand up guy and his work was decent. When I bought a house of my own it was suggested to me by my landlord that I also use Steve considering my place needed a lot of work.
Once I finally got into my place, I tried for months to line Steve up to do a number of projects for me (and I had prior discussions with Steve about my timeline). I had a written list of items plus his quote on each one. Not only did it take him sometimes weeks to respond to me, when it came down to pay the price went up by 50%and he and his workers ruined a $600 vacuum of mine(apparently they don't travel with a shop vac?).
After some discussion about the inflated price, I ended up paying him every penny, which again was not even close to the original quote, and I never heard from him again. Not to ""finish"" the job, to discuss the other items I needed done, nothing. Shame on me I guess.
A side note on electrical, my garage had my washer, dryer and furnace all plugged in to one of those multiple plug outlets on an extension cord. I asked him to look at that first and see what we needed to do to fix it. His response was ""oh, that'll be fine for now."" When I pulled the plug out of the wall later it was melted and burned! That was clearly something that needed to be addressed which is why I brought it to his attention. Makes me wonder about other electrical that he has inspected.
All I can determine is that my projects were too small ($5000 worth or so) or I just wasn't a high priority. For someone who portrays themselves to be better than the rest, certainly fell short by a couple hundred feet on this one.
