2.5 stars because we're 50% satisfied. However, would not use them again.

Tldr; simple replacement of ceiling fan ended up with opening up the ceiling and we also felt we were overcharged.

I contacted Mike to replace a ceiling fan and replace 2 exterior lights. I went with a licensed electrician instead of a handyman because I wanted their specialized experience. However, Danny, his son, showed up to do the job. Danny was polite and friendly and has 4-5 years of experience.

No complaints on the replacement of the exterior lights. One of them was a little wobbly but once Danny tightened it a bit more, they both look great.

The concerns are mainly with the ceiling fan. We removed a ~50 pound fan and are replacing it with a 20 pound fan. Once removed, Danny noticed the metal box inside was for lighting fixtures and not fan rated. Since we're replacing it with a lighter fan, it didn't seem to be a big issue but the bracket was an inch too short anyway and Danny mentioned it was against code, so we agreed to replace the box from fixture to fan-rated.

I've previously hired professionals to install recessed lights and fans in ceilings where there was no fixture and the wires have to be pulled. They were always installed with the light/fan/fixture covering the hole, with no additional patching needed. I thought this would be a simpler job if replacing a fan with a fan.

I was surprised when there seemed to be a significant amount of patching needed to replace the existing fan with the new fan. The new hole is maybe 12"" long and a jagged shape whereas the previous hole and box was about 6""x6"" square. The resulting patch was painted but due to the texture different, quite obvious.

We were charged $345 (negotiated down to $300) to switch out the box only (no wires needed to be pulled), which we initially agreed to as we were stuck with no working fan. I realized a couple hours later that I previously had a recessed lighting company install ceiling fixture support boxes in another room for only $85 each a couple of months ago. I showed the invoice and asked if the price could be lowered as the 4x charge was quite steep but was told no and that we should've hired that other company (this is a good point). Knowing how much I paid last time from a reputable company vs the 400% markup, left me feeling that I had been taken advantage of, esp as a female.

Lastly the top of the fan is not flush with the ceiling but Danny mentioned that was an issue with the fan itself and not with the box.

All in all, everything was installed and works fine so far. However, while I appreciated their effort and work, I do think someone with more experience might have done a cleaner and more efficient job. Now I'm left with a sizeable patched area that needs to be textured and re-painted, as well as having paid more than 2.5x the quoted price due to the ceiling box issue (which I wonder if it could have been MaGyvered by a handyman). Overall for me the sticker shock / price was too high for the work I received, hence would not use them again.

I called. They said they would be here in two hours.
I waited three and he was a no show with no phone call.
Not reliable. I even text them my address. When phoned him back, phone went straight to voice mail.

Mike did a great job fixing the electrical panel so our HVAC would work. He was very responsive and even came over on Labor Day. He and his son were a pleasure to work with. I would definitely use his services again and highly recommend him.

If I could give West Coast Electric 10 stars, I would. My husband and I discovered that we needed to fully rewire our house. We ended up getting several estimates and decided to go with Mike with West Coast Electric. His estimate was reasonable, he was responsive, had great input on what we could do as far as upgrades that wouldn't break the bank, identified problem areas and talked through solutions, contacted the city for the permit, answered my millions of questions, and had a crew of several guys who worked so efficiently together (including his son who was extremely hard working). We continued to live in our house while the work was being done, and Mike and his crew were so conscientious of this. They would clean up at the end of every day and you'd hardly know they had been there. Alfredo worked alongside Mike patching and painting as they went room to room. Alfredo works magic with his patchwork. We were so happy with the work he did that we ended up hiring him to finish a storage room to turn into an office. It came out so beautiful! This is the first big project my husband and I have ever done and it couldn't have gone smoother or turned out better. The city inspector said it was the best rewire job he'd ever seen. Mike is an exceptional electrician and I highly highly highly recommend him.

Mike & his son came on time. They put a light in bathroom ceiling & relocated an outlet. They were very kind & professional!
After they left, I went into my other bathroom and was so surprised to
find he also put in a new outlet in there as well! It was barely working.
Price was good, and left it clean. I totally recommend this company.

Mike and son Danny did a bang-up job that involved a bunch of different things while working around all kinds of trades people doing their work. Mike and Danny were able to navigate around the mayhem and install a new panel, new switches and plugs, clean up and create new circuits and last but not least, install five fans along with the boxes that go with them. Kudos to you guys for getting it done and going the extra mile. I would highly recommend West Coast Electric for any electrical project you might have, they'll get it done and with a smile.

Mike and his son were able to accommodate me same day, after I notified them I wanted to move forward after their quote. They installed 2 new electrical outlets in our bedroom and did great work and they ensured all trash was picked up and vacuumed, a bit plus! I will keep them in mind moving forward for all future electrical needs. I recommend you give them a call and book their services.

mike and his son came after another call to check my pool pump timer system that had smoked and shorted. they got me a new timer system and repaired the corroded conduit below ground and used a quick cement patching to stabilize up to the timer. all
done in 4-5 hours, worked in the evening with their temporary lighting working safely.
alternate would have to dig trenches and Mike was very creative and saved money with his approach.
I highly recommend him and his son and as a small business we need to support them for their excellent work.
i highly recommend their service.

We had a ceiling fan and light installed in our master bedroom a few months back and they did a great job. Mike added in a few extra touches around the house as well. Great work and customer service.
