Wayne's Handyman Service
Company Overview
Specializing in construction, finishing, electrical work, and handyman tasks, Wayne’s Handyman Service is here to help.
My career started in auto and boat painting. I later shifted to residential work, acquiring more skills along the way. One of my clients recruited me for a position. I became a property manager. For about four years, my team and I tackled numerous projects across various properties, from apartments to a resort on Lopez Island in Washington. Subsequently, I started Wayne’s Handyman Service. My time in Washington lasted four years. It became essential to relocate to California to care for my father during his hospice. I have lived in this area for approximately twelve years.

I asked him to put a new door frame in and he told me it would take 3 hours plus 1 hour for painting. He also said it would be 70 dollars an hour and I asked him if he had a degree in construction. Because that is what surgeons cost. I'm sorry but he is not a surgeon and I am not paying that.

Super personable, fast, hard worker. Would hire again. Will hire again if anything else comes up that I don't feel confident doing. He helped install security cameras for us in our house. Super reasonable rate for how quickly he worked. Hard to find competent people like this. Glad we found him, will be our go to guy from now on.

I have used Wayne for several repair projects both at my home and my office. He is very creatively intelligent in solving a wide variety of ""handyman"" functional issues. His pricing considering his width of knowledge is more than fair and even if he is a few minutes late once in a while he is worth the wait when considering the value of the job done. Don't hesitate to get a quote from Wayne when considering your next project.

He is a very pleasant person but did not show for one of the jobs I hired him for. His contractor's license expired in 2013 and he is not bonded. Not sure why, but I would not use him for both reasons.

I reviewed him once before, as a 5 star experience, but need to update it. This is based on our last experience in May, I was just going to let it go but it continues to puss me off daily, so I figured I should share and explain why.
My husband contacted and scheduled an appointment to repair a built in hand held shower hear that was leaking and loose and had a hard time turning off. We also wanted to install a hand held shower head installed in our front bathroom since we have a toddler and it would be easier to bath her, which I purchased at Home Depot.
First, he was at least two hours late with no call, no email... I had to take time off of work, so to say the least I was a little upset. When he did arrive he did the repairs very quickly BUT... my shower in the master bathroom was installed backward, so if you put it it to H it's cold or When it should be cold its hot. Then when he switched the shower heads in the front bathroom... which again there was nothing wrong with the Moen shower head that was already there, just was for convenience with our kid, he took the shower head with him without asking! I was planning on keeping it as back up as it was practically brand new.
All of this took maybe 15 minutes. My husband was supposed to be there to pay him but because he had been late, he could bed get off of work at that point to come handle it. Anyways, so I pull out my checkbook, and see that the last time he had been there it was $50, so I had asked him ""so it's $50?"", response ""no, now it's $60, my fee went up and 2 hour minimum"". The way he said it made it sound like $60 was the cost for two hours... i mean really, is he going to charge $120 for 15 minutes and after being 2 hours late?? Yes, it turns out.
Later my husband contacted him to ask for the shower head head back, and was told that he disposed of it. He also paid the other half that I did not realize that we owed. Later once we finally used the master handheld shower head and realized it was not fixed correctly, the hubs tried to get into contact with him to fix, with no response since then.
So to say the least, I am still pissed. I should send him the bill for two hours of my lost wages that he was late for, for the showerhead that he took and the cost to have some other person to re-fixour shower so that the corresponding temperature comes out. Ridiculous.

Wayne has done several jobs for me over the years - plumbing, drywall repair, etc. He's fair, honest, hardworking, and always does a great job. And to top it off, he's a really nice guy too - what more could you ask for?

Among other jobs, Wayne installed a front door and sidelight for us. He's a professional licensed contractor who does excellent work. His hourly rate of $60 is well worth it. We used a different handyman (who was not a licensed contractor) in the past, and we learned the hard way that you get you pay for. We are happy with all of the work that Wayne has done at our home. He's our go-to guy! Highly recommended.

Wayne has done a lot of work for me and most has been good. But when he hires subcontractors to do the work it's very poor quality . He had painters do some work on the outside and they did not clean up afterward . There were drops of paint all over the place . And they came back to clean up and still didn't clean it all up. Wayne had to come back out . Also he has raised his prices to 60.00 an hour which is too high for this area. You can find plenty of really good handymen for 30-50. Shop around .

Wayne was prompt, accomodating, understanding, professional, resourceful, knowledgeable, competent, very handy and farly fast. We are very impressed. Wayne is our man from now on.

We just had Wayne over to repair a few doors with different issues. He was very nice, polite and fixed all of them with seemingly ease, so he definitely knew what he was doing. I was home alone during his visit and I was very relieved to see that he was not creepy at all, obviously not a concise let alone necessarily valid basis of judgement, but I'm sure there are plenty others that identify the ""creep"" factor some repair guys give off...I had no red flags go off, so that was good. His rate was very reasonable, at least as far as my husband and I are concerned. We will be contacting him again if any other repair needs arise!
See later review that updates the reasons for my edit...
