They are very responsive to calls and showed up at the agreed upon appointment time (which is unusual for Hawaii). The call center staff is great and very polite. The plumbers were also very nice and polite. However, prices are 2-3 times what other plumbers have charged for similar calls (this was not weekend or night time) and after reviewing the work, it was not the best quality. You will not find out what the the price is until they are there and if it is an emergency I have a feeling they price accordingly since they know the work has to get done. I'm not a fan of this type of business. I wanted to like them, and they were recommended by a friend, but I cannot recommend them with such ridiculously high prices. Perhaps their prices are more reasonable if it is something that you don't need done quickly. Don't waste your time with getting an estimate since they will charge your for that. I'll be calling someone else in the future.

They seriously overcharged me for what should have been a simple job. I will not use them again.

i cannot and will not ever recommend waialae plumbing. if i could give no stars, i would.

i wish, i would have read the negative reviews this company has on yelp. had i, i would have never used this plumbing company. there is something to be said when you consistently have negative reviews and have customers as upset and as angry as myself.

i was charged close to $500.00 for a job that should have cost less than $200.00. i had 2 water stop valves replaced, the valves cost $20.00 (that's retail, i'm sure they get theirs at wholesale). i had origianlly asked that only the cold water stop valve be replace because of a very small leak but the call taker recommended that i replace both the hot and cold water valves at the same time. thinking this was an honest and fair company, i humbly took their advice. i should have become suspicious when i asked for an estimate and i was not given a definitive answer.
the total job took less than 1 hour (more like 30 minutes) but i was charged for 2.5 hours of work. plumbers in hawaii make on average $10.00-$39.00/hour. no matter how i calculate it, there is no way the bill should be what it was. they knew i was in a predicament and they totally took adavange of it. i got 3 other estimates afterwards from licensed plumbers and it ranged from $140.00 to $180.00 to do the same job. they charged me triple for doing the same job. i was going to let this go, however when i mention what had transpired at a dinner with my relatives and local friends, they insisted that i file a formal complaint so no other residents of hawaii will experience what i went through. i filed a complaint with the bbb, john the owner, wrote to me saying it was ""petty"" that i made a complaint. i don't know about everyone else but $500.00 is not petty to me by any means.

there are many honest and reasonable plumbers on oahu. wailalae plumbing is not one of them. i pleaded with the owner john to rectify this but he refused and said, ""let this be a learning experience"". he claimed that no one put a gun to my head and made me accept the work that was to be performed and i should have declined the work if i thought it was too expensive....
not to worry john, this was a very expensive and disappointing experience for me, i feel like i was taken advantage of. i will make sure to reciprocate this. hawaii is an island with a tight knit network of family, relatives, friends and co-workers. you will not get away with your condescending and patronizing attitude as well as your predatory business practices. word gets out fast, hopefully no one else will have to go through what i did and have to go through the disappointment and anger i and others have experienced because of you. in my opinion, you sold your soul to the devil john, just to make a little coin. i hope you're happy and can look at yourself in the mirror every day knowing how many people dispise you and your business ethics.

btw, i had met john initally because i was going to do a remodel (he does remodels as well) and i had him come by to give me an estimate. when i met him, he asked what my budget was....i should have been wary from that point on. every contractor i interviewed (i interviewed over 10 contracts), asked what i wanted done and then they proceeded to give me an estimate. he's the only one that asked what my budget was. he was trying to figure out how much he could squeeze out of me. he went on to boast how he owned 9 homes in new hampshire. in retrospect that explains everything as to why john does business the way he does; he looks for victims that are in a predicament and then charges exorbitant prices so he can be a slum lord back home. you cannot get away with charging triple and think word is not going to get out, especially here in hawaii.
there so many other honest and fair
plumbers here in hawaii....

thanks for the learning experience johnny boy! i hope you get chased out of hawaii!

I had a great experience with Waialae Plumbing. Matthew Crail was able to come out one day after I called to change my garbage disposal. He came on time, wore his mask, kept a clean workplace, didn't try to push extra services and I have a new disposal for what I think is a very good price.
Thanks Matthew and Waialae Plumbing

We experienced an excellent service done by Nate which was $320. Then we ordered an exact same job one week later in the same condo building 2 floors above, and Waialae Plumbing sent another guy over.

For the exactly same job, this guy quoted me $699. I told him how much it was just a week ago; and he agreed to do it. He took off the old kitchen faucet and put the new one on without cleaning the base. My husband stopped him and cleaned the rust and stains, and this guy just stood there looking at my husband doing the work. After the new faucet was installed, the guy didn't put caulking to seal the gap; and we did it ourselves.

We're shocked that from the same company, the quote for the excactly same work could be more than double. And 2 different technicians' work and customer service could be so different.

I feel it is my responsibility to tell the fact because I wrote a 5 star review for Waialae Plumbing and Nate. My suggestion is that the 5 star goes to Nate only. Not the company. If anyone want to use Waialae Plumbing, please ask for Nate.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! We had them run a waterline to our fridge. It had to go through the crawl space in the attic and the worker stepped off the beam and put a hole through our canec ceiling in the hallway. The owner would only pay for slapping some drywall mud to patch it or put up an access panel (WE ALREADY HAVE ONE). Both of those options would be highly visible. It was a perfectly good hallway prior. To fix it properly will cost almost $3000 and he is only willing to pay for half. He says it's ""unfair"" for him to pay for the whole thing. I have to pay $1500 for his worker's mistake? This was 2 months ago and nothings been done. I agree with the other reviews. Do not go with this company. Unethical!

If I could give this company a ""0"" I would. WARNING!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH WAIALAE PLUMBING!! As many of you are aware, I posted an incident in my home about a month ago. We had Waialae Plumbing come and install plumbing for our refrigerator water dispenser. In the process one of the workers who was in the attic, fell broke the canec ceiling leaving a gaping hole, leaving the attic insulation exposed with fiber glass and possible arsenic from the material coming down on us into the hallway below. Here it sits almost 2 months later just as they left it.
Now as a Christian, my first concern was for the worker. I made sure he was ok and told him not to worry about it because things happen. Little did I know that the company's owner, John Emery, a man totally oblivious to courtesy, customer service, empathy to others and especially ETHICS, was going to turn out to be inconsiderate and unwilling to fairly repair the roof properly. We told him that because the ceiling is made of canec, a product no longer made, our house will no longer be the exactly the way it was previous to them coming in, and his way of fixing the problem was either making an access panel to the attic (we already have one!) or slapping on some drywall mud and patching it. Both would be obvious and visible. We told him that considering that they could not repair it to its previous glory that the whole hallway needed to be replaced with drywall to at least get it to as close to possible as it was prior. He asked us to get an estimate of the repair. We hired a person to come estimate, totaled to about 2,900, he even went as far as to say that it was a fair estimate, but the man (owner) refused to pay for the whole thing, claiming it was unfair for him to do so and that we pay for half of it! 1500 DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THEY DID!!
I can't stop thinking of the unbelievable lack of consideration, respect, and empathy. Here I am, letting everyone know just who this man is. Again his name is John Emery, the owner of Waialae Plumbing. If you would like to support us and share this, please feel free to do so. Something needs to be done with companies like these. This man has business insurance and refuses to follow through. Makes me sick and the added stress during these times is completely unmerited. WAIALAE PLUMBING IS UNETHICAL!!!

I had my old tankless water heater replaced today with a new Rinnai Tankless water heater. From my request for an estimate to the final install today, the service was excellent. The installers were friendly, helpful and very efficient.

I used this same company two years ago to replace my first tankless water heater (I have two) and they were just as good back then.
