I have been the owner and operator of Venice Electric since 1982. I entered the electrical field in 1971. Originally hailing from Miami, I am a proud Florida native. My apprenticeship was completed with IBEW Local 349 in Miami. I received my journeyman's license in 1976. I achieved my master's license in Florida in 1980. My background includes vast experience in residential and commercial wiring.

Scheduled appointment with them on 11/8. A few days earlier they asked to adjust the time which I said was fine. When they were 30 minutes overdue on the time they asked for I called and left a message asking when they would be to my home. Their scheduling person called me back 20 minutes later and said they were running late and would be there soon. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! It is 3 days later and no call to apologize or reschedule which I would not be interested in doing at this point. I understand contractors get busy but calling to let me know that they couldn't make it is a basic courtesy.

Venice Electric was supposed to do a job for us today did not show up we called about 10:00am they said decided they could not do the job. When did companies think It was ok not to show up and not be courteous enough to call to the customer?

This is my first review on YELP. But this review DESERVES an OUTSTANDING review. I am a biz owner, and we were doing work at a person's home, we plugged one of our power tools into a residential home, and the power went out. This has NEVER happened to us in the 30yrs we've been in BIZ.

The homeowners were of course upset, we promised to fix the problem ASAP. But the problem was NO Electric company would come out same day, I called many businesses and they all snubbed us off. When I call Venice Electric, I spoke to Dionne, He was extremely helpful, said they were busy, but he went OUT OF HIS WAY, to say, he would contact all the guys in the field and see if one could swing by in between jobs..At any rate, I thought he was just saying that.

1 hour later Spencer one of their electricians showed up at our jobsite, and he could not have been MORE professional. He took his time to figure out the problem, it turned out, the builder in this brand new community, had botched wiring, and Spencer went out of his way to check all the outlets in the home. Anyway, he fixed it all, even know this was really not our company's fault, we of course had to pay as our machine triggered the power outage. It was a HAPPY mistake, because the homeowners now were aware of the shotty work the builder did to their home, and we became HEROS because of Spencer and Dionne. They really saved the day. I was expecting a large bill, BUT, they were extremely fair. I now have Venice Electric in my contacts. They are the ONLY ones I will ever use/refer in the future! THANK YOU! Dionne and Spencer! You are HEROS!

Venice Electric installed some new smoke alarms. Months later they charged me a $125 service call fee for coming out to reset an alarm that had had a strange light flash going on. They fixed the flashing, and then gave me the Operating Instructions, which would have allowed me to fix it myself in the first place. I protested the charge, and they agreed it was not fair to charge for a visit that would not have been necessary if they'd given me the Operating Instructions in the first place. I will continue to use them - this is good business, high integrity, and besides that, they were prompt when I first called them for service.
