I had a electrical issue, so I decided to give this guy a call (Dan).

A) Compared to other local electricians, he charges at a higher rate.

B) I asked if he was insured he said ""NO"".

C) I asked if he could give me a more affordable rate because he was uninsured, he hung up on me!

D) Horrible customer service!

I would not hire this guy for work.

Dan and Valley West Electric really let me down. I called at approximately 10:45am on June 13th to inquire about getting an outlet installed in my garage for a garage door opener. Dan seemed slighlty rushed on the phone, however, he asked that I text him my address and he would be over to take a look at the job. Because Dan didn't mention he was running behind or had other jobs at the moment or that it would be a few hours, I was given the impression he was coming right over.

Three hours plus later I text Dan letting him know I had to leave my home and he responded he was very sorry but he was being pulled in many different directions. I understand we all get busy and life happens, however, as a business owner and me being a potential customer, I would have expected a phone call letting me know he was running behind or wouldn't be able to make it out.

At the moment I'm still without a garage outlet due to not having sufficient time late Saturday to call another electrician. The job will get done, I'm just disappointed in the service or lack thereof I received from Valley West Electric after reading so many good reviews.

I had an electrical problem in my home that I was selling. A couple of light switches would not turn on. After doing basic troubleshooting, I couldn't fix the problem so I called up Dan from Valley West Electric. I chose him based on his Yelp reviews. It was a Sunday in early January, and he claimed he would not charge me OT hours for coming out. I liked that so I asked him to come over and do the work. It turned out that the problem was loose wiring connected via wire nuts in the bathroom electrical box. The reason for the low rating is this: Dan took a lot of time walking around every room in my home and asking, ""is there a problem in this room? what about this room? is there a problem in here?"" Sounds great, but I already knew where the problem was and I told him exactly what the problem was. I showed him exactly which outlets and switches had the problem. But he didn't seem to care. He still kept walking around checking things that were working fine. And then about 45 minutes into the work, his phone rang and he answered. He talked on the phone for about 6 minutes while just standing there in my bathroom. All this would be perfectly acceptable, except for the fact that when he finally found and fixed the problem, we were 3 MINUTES (THREE MINUTES) past the first hour mark and he charged me for 2 hours of work because he passed the one hour by 3 minutes. This is why I am giving a low review and rating. Next time, please don't charge your customers for your phone call. Please don't charge customers for you looking at items that are functioning properly. I understand it might take time to look at a home's wiring and understand what's going on, but even me with my limited understanding of electrical know that working circuits more than likely have nothing to do with an nonworking circuit. And in this case, this was true.

I feel if I had gone with someone else, they would have identified the problem quicker and have had the job completed under an hour.

Two stars because he did fix the problem, but he over charged me.

Dan was prompt, helpful, and affordable in fixing a short that fed the ignition system for my on-demand water heater. He arrived the very same day of my call and crawled under the house to follow the electric line that led to the water heater - not a pretty job.

He's a one man operation and so needed my help turning the circuit breaker on and off while he tested different leads. After isolating the location of the problem he returned the next day, back under the house, to fix the problem. I found him knowledgeable and persistent in finding and fixing the problem. I'd easily hire him again were I to have another problem.

Dan is a REALLY nice guy and was able to come troubleshoot my issue very quickly. My problem was easy to solve but he double checked my panel just to be safe, and helped me with a couple other things while he was here. Really reasonable rates. Would definitely recommend and will use him again if *knock wood* I ever have electric issues in the future.
