Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
Let me start by highlighting the key contrasts that set our cooperative apart compared to for-profit utilities. It may surprise you that our members enjoy a genuine Bill of Rights featuring the right to access trustworthy, budget-friendly, and safe electrical service as well as the right to collaborate to establish and run a non-profit electric utility. In a cooperative model, each customer are treated fairly and equitably. This equitable treatment is made possible by our dedicated management and employees, but also by a Board of Trustees selected by our members. This is a prime example of the highest standard of consumer protection. Moreover, cooperatives adhere to a set of seven principles that provide just attention for consumers from the utility they own. These principles include fairness, open access, member control, independence, education, training, and information, as well as collaboration among cooperatives that facilitates the strength of combined initiatives to work towards the advantage of the cooperatives. The last of these principles centers on community welfare. Although cooperatives place members first, they remain dedicated to improving the communities they support.
