Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
I want to emphasize the key contrasts between our electric cooperative compared to for-profit utilities. You might not know that our members enjoy a true Bill of Rights that includes the right to receive dependable, affordable, and safe electric power along with the right to come together to form and operate a non-profit electric utility. In a cooperative model, every member are treated fairly and equitably. This is accomplished by our dedicated management and employees, but also through a Board of Trustees selected by our members. This is a prime example of the pinnacle of consumer security. Additionally, cooperatives adhere to a set of seven principles which guarantee members receive fair attention from the utility they support. These principles include fairness, open access, member control, independence, education, training, and information, along with cooperation between cooperatives which allows for the strength of combined initiatives to serve the interests of the cooperative community. The last of these principles centers on community welfare. Although cooperatives place members first, they consistently work in enhancing the towns and communities they serve.
