Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
Let me start by highlighting the numerous distinctions that set our cooperative apart and investor-owned utilities. You might not know that our members enjoy an authentic Bill of Rights that includes the right to obtain dependable, affordable, and safe electric power and the right to unite to establish and run a not-for-profit electric service. In our cooperative structure, all consumers receive just and equal treatment. This is accomplished not just by management and staff, but also by a Board of Trustees selected by our members. This represents the pinnacle of consumer security. Moreover, cooperatives are guided by seven foundational principles which guarantee members receive fair attention from the service they collectively own. These guiding principles consist of fairness, open access, member control, independence, education, training, and information, as well as collaboration among cooperatives that enables the benefits of united actions to be utilized for the benefit of the cooperative community. The last of these principles emphasizes community support. Although cooperatives place members first, they consistently work in enhancing the towns and communities they serve.
