Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
First, it's important to note the key contrasts between our electric cooperative and investor-owned utilities. You may not realize that our members possess an authentic Bill of Rights that includes the right to obtain dependable, affordable, and safe electric power and the right to unite to form and operate a community-focused electric utility. Within a cooperative framework, every member are treated fairly and equitably. This fairness is achieved not just by management and staff, and through a Board of Trustees selected by our members. This is a prime example of consumer security at its best. Moreover, cooperatives are guided by seven foundational principles which guarantee equitable treatment for members from the service they collectively own. These principles include equity, accessibility, member oversight, self-sufficiency, learning, training, and information sharing, including collaboration among cooperatives that facilitates the strength of combined initiatives to work towards the advantage of the cooperatives. The last of these principles emphasizes community support. While cooperatives prioritize, they consistently work in bettering the neighborhoods they serve.
